Why? He wins too many games? His players like and respect him too much? He is a great recruiter? He runs an offense that the best athletes want to play in? His players play too hard?wkfan;905649 wrote:I do not have mixed feelings.

Well spun, sir, well spun. But there are two sides to every story. He either has severe health issues or he quit on his team twice, he's never won anything major in a BCS conference without Tim Tebow on his roster (Tebow played a bigger role in that '07 national championship than most will admit. I don't think they win it all with just Chris Leak).TBone14;905731 wrote:Why? He wins too many games? His players like and respect him too much? He is a great recruiter? You can spin it both ways.
Truthfully, I'd like him as OSU's coach. I can't think of any major obstacle as to why I wouldn't. If someone would care to share theirs (talking to you wkfan), I'd be very intrigued to hear why (no sarcasm, being honest).

They beat us by about 600 points in that game. Even if Tebow didn't play, Florida still won that game. Maybe the margin was closer, but they still win.lhslep134;905744 wrote:Well spun, sir, well spun. But there are two sides to every story. So one game is the entire season? I'm saying they don't even make the title game without Tebow.krambman;906123 wrote:They beat us by about 600 points in that game. Even if Tebow didn't play, Florida still won that game. Maybe the margin was closer, but they still win.

I'd prefer to get Peterson from Boise rather than Urban Meyer. Urban is a snake.

This I can probably agree with, but when you say the "07 national championship" it makes it sound like you are talking about the championship game, not the championship season. You never said season and that game was the 07 national championship.lhslep134;906144 wrote:So one game is the entire season? I'm saying they don't even make the title game without Tebow.

You can spin it, but sometimes it doesn't make sense. True, Meyer won 2 national titles with Tebow and won 0 without Tebow, but he only coached 2 seasons without Tebow on the roster. Not too mention all the studs on both sides of the ball that accompanied Tebow. Tebow was a great player and leader, but he didn't win titles on his own.lhslep134;905744 wrote:Well spun, sir, well spun. But there are two sides to every story. I'd love for Urban Meyer to come to Ohio State. I think he could get the team to where they need to be and continue the success (maybe exceed it, maybe) that Tressel established in Columbus.

This. If Urban wants the job all he needs to do is walk into Gene Smith's office, but his 2006 championship ring on his desk and say "I can start on Monday," and the job is his.dwccrew;906351 wrote:I wouldn't mind having a guy that won 2 national titles in 3 seasons.

Well, one could make the argument that Tressel took being a narcissistic dooooooosh one step further when he put the whole program in jeopardy by lying.wkfan;906608 wrote:Even if he is a narcisstic doooooooooooosh who believes that he is bigger than the entire program?

I was not arguing that. Just that Meyer is not my first (1th?) choice...or my 10th.

Imagine yourself having the kind of success that he has had. Is he a bit narcisstic? Sure, but he has earned the right to be. Give me the rings.wkfan;906608 wrote:Even if he is a narcisstic doooooooooooosh who believes that he is bigger than the entire program?

Most people who are ultra successful have equally strong egos. It goes with the territory. If they didn't, they probably wouldn't be successful; it's a big part of what drives them. You take the good with the bad.

Yes. I want a coach that brings championships and has success (as long as the rules are not being broken). What do I care what his personal ego is? i don't have to interact with him, I just want to watch my team win win win.wkfan;906608 wrote:Even if he is a narcisstic doooooooooooosh who believes that he is bigger than the entire program?
Bingo! Honestly, Tressel may be worse. The guy tried to come off as holier than thou, all the while knowingly and intentionally breaking the rules. I don't care what he claims he thought he was doing (confidentiality) because that is bull. He insults our intelligence when he thinks we'll believe that.Writerbuckeye;906625 wrote:Well, one could make the argument that Tressel took being a narcissistic dooooooosh one step further when he put the whole program in jeopardy by lying.
Curious, who are 10 coaches you'd like to have over Meyer? 10 coaches that could potentially get the job mind you.wkfan;906652 wrote:Yes, one could.

Is Florida currently under NCAA investigation for something Urban did while he was there? If so, I'm not aware of it. That being the case, your comment is not only out of line...it's not even reality.

True. But again, if you look at the type of players Urban recruited...MANY were thugs. Their arrest record at Florida under Meyer was a bit scarey. No way would that fly around OSU after what just happened. They couldn't take the chance of anything going on at all. Urban would have to be much more careful in the type of players he recruited. And YES, I realize what happened under Tressel. But my point is, that can't happen again with the NCAA cloud hanging over OSU for years to come.Writerbuckeye;909947 wrote:Is Florida currently under NCAA investigation for something Urban did while he was there? BG, Utah, or Florida came under no NCAA investigation from Meyer's time. Tressel had almost as many arrests in his first 5 or 6 years at OSU as Meyer had at UF, I've posted and proven that here before. Difference was 1 per year. Meyer also disciplined his players more than Tressel. I'd like to see how many of OSU's arrests were completely dropped charges later because the arrest was bullsh!+. Anybody can be arrested. Means nothing at all unless you are guilty. Just like the OSU scandal with tats, money, cars, equipment, etc. you guys defend it saying 'there's no proof'.
