Looks like your script needs some tweaking so that you don't post threads 3 times.

Something obviously needs to happen since technology has made the USPS almost obsolete. Gotta save money somehow.

I don't care enough to fix it. It took all of 5 minutes. Plus its hilarious to see people bring it up seeing as thats one of the irrelevant things they use when ever other point they bring up gets destroyed.

Honestly, they need a wage freeze to start with. I don't know all the particulars of their union contract, but I have a friend that delivers mail and she gets multiple raises every year. Way too high of a salary for unskilled labor.

I agree with the freeze, that would be a great start. Darrell Issa is a huge thorn in getting this resolved seeing as hes got his own agenda in the whole ordeal. Along with the union being so strong its tough on both sides.

I'd suggest not only a freeze, but pay cuts as well. Maybe if they gave up a couple dollars an hour, they wouldn't have to let 20% of the work force go.

Also get rid of 6 days a week delivery.

The union would never agree to that, but then again the union also has a no layoff clause so thats a whole different issue.

That would have to be tough. I don't imagine many of them have transferable skills to find an equivalent paying job. At least automotive workers are generally skilled to find other manufacturing jobs.

Exactly, thats the terrible part especially for long serving employees. Its going to be a complete trainwreck if this goes through.

I don't see why. They'd still get their food stamps, just might be on Thursday instead of Friday. I don't think taking away Saturday service would affect business too much. Maybe I'm missing something.

...agree 100%. Certain industies ie:newspapers are becoming a vanishing breed due to technology.

Post Offices would still be open Saturdays, just no delivery. Businesses could still ship stuff. It really wouldn't change much.

I believe you can still have a package delivered Saturday too, but it will be like UPS where you pay out the ass for it.
