1. His wildness. He has his plant foot nearly pointing towards 1st base. Impossible to be consistent and will always lead to huge bouts of wildness
2. He is so open, that batters pick up the ball REALLY early and just smack him around. In 2007 it was new and different, but now hitters see him.
I am 99% sure he will NEVER be a good pitcher unless he closes that delivery up a LOT. It is ridiculous how open he is on it.
Wow, Laley...that's quite an inside analysis followed by a bold statement. Don't get me wrong...I am not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I'd be curious how you came up with that?...( did you hear it somewhere in the media, have a friend who's a pitching coach, or do you have special knowledge yourself?) Not that I require expert testimony, but, if true, then I wonder why has not the organization picked up on that or corrected that flaw...especially since Fausto has had a few different pitching coaches over his tenure here. I am not trying to call you on this...just want to discuss that further. Over the years, I myself have posted on why the Indians (who had a great hitting coach in Derek Shelton) consistently had trouble in certain aspects of the their hitting game. Why can't the Tribe figure out Carmona if his problems are mechanical? I always surmised that his 'problems' were in the space between his ears.
