And only 5 balls, 3 of them to Soriano on the first time thru the line-up.

And Francisco back to bad habits with three swings at three pitches, all out of the strike zone. Not nearly as good an AB as Alonso even though Alonso took strike three. The other four pitches he swung at two in the zone and took the two out of the zone.

So Dontrelle throws four straight balls to the lead-off hitter - bad smarts!

Four not close to Ramirez. Looked to me like the first three were balls to Castro, and the 4th was so close either way could be called correct.

Mesoraco not great at receiving the ball....but shouldn't matter ump not giving Dontrelle the pitch that sweeps thru the strike zone.

With the weather out there, there is no excuse for a pitcher, especially one with any smarts, to let the game get tied up with the first hit of the game, a grounder to LF!

BP dogged it on that inning ending DP. I guess he cares nothing about trying to give the next batter a chance for a 2 out RBI! Albeit it is Stubbs who doesn't have much chance.

I wish Alonso could catch the ball as well as he can call "it's in the ivy!" But the ivy saves a run scoring on the miscue!

Alonso whiffs on the catch at the wall.

If that ball is touched by his glove does the ground rule double still apply?

HOF watch.....

Paul Janish in his past 40 games (27 starts) has 98 at bats and 108 total plate appearances.....in that time he had ZERO RBI.

Has he reached base in that span?

Alonso goes from +1 on team runs contributed to -2! His misplay, if played correctly would have saved Willis 16 pitches and 3 runs in getting out of the inning. One of the pitches was a wild one, contributed heavily to by the rookie catcher.

Janish 0-28 with zero RBI in his last 99 AB and no HR in his last 115 games.

Can't make this stuff up.

Meso passes his first test on runner on 3rd and less than 2 out with an RBI. Sort of off-sets his helping Dontrelle get charged for a run scoring WP.

Why didn't BP run that hard on the DP last time? Reds have given away two ABs with RISP due to that and the Stubbs brain cramp.
