Big Hank can move for a big guy. If he can stay on the field he could be a huge impact player this year.

Akron's Coach is garbage that's why his team is garbage. This should be his last year at Akron.

I expected Fickell to be much more aggressive, and was glad to see it. This defense could be insanely good, and has some serious depth.

A couple of concerns from this game. (Its mostly nit picky stuff)

1. Lack of sacks without a blitz.
2. Losing contain on the QB allowing him to scramble. (We don't want to do this vs Taylor Martinez or Russell Wilson)
3. No big plays. I usually expect a big run or pass to be broken. Although we had quite a few 20+ yard plays.
4. Downfield blocking by WRs. I counted 2 runs where if Verlon Reed was blocking his guy Hyde would have gone for 6.
5. Poor RB vision. The line was opening up holes, but RBs weren't hitting cutback lanes.

That's all I got. Overall a great game and much better than expected.

1) Alot of 3 step drops from Akron
2) I think this will improve the more comfortable the players get w/ being a blitzing team(Not used to alot of blitzing in the past)
3) This is where we need Hall and Berry. I know they say Hyde tested the fastest of the OSU RB's, but he doesn't look very fast with the ball in his hands.
4) I was too drunk to pay attention to anyone not carrying the ball...lol

I thought Hyde looked good. Smith had TERRRRRIBLE vision for an RB. Probably why he is buried on the depth chart

It appeared to me he just put his head down and ran--he didn't even look for a hole (I know, twss)

Agreed but that was smith's first game since high school. Although vision usually isn't something you can coach.

He did not early in his career, but the last part of 2010 I think he progressed quite a bit. I still think Berry is the biggest threat to break one due to pure acceleration.

Big runs typically come on cutback plays(that's where Beanie made his money). I think Smith will get there, but Hall and Berry are much more likely to break the big one, because they will go around defenders instead of through them. I'm excited to see the running game when we have that change of pace in there.
