From Dan Wetzel:
Unless Tressel unexpectedly drops a bombshell, hearing OSU in fine shape today w/ NCAA; additional sanctions unlikely.

I think It's more likely Ellis is getting money from SI to talk than any hush money. Remember, he wasn't going to talk at all because of fear his identity would come out. Now all of a sudden he's become fearless and has no problem meeting with the NCAA? That reeks of "incentives" coming from SI. They are the ones who have pushed for more harsh punishment, and definitely have a stake in extending the investigation in hopes something else comes up.

That's a good point. But I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly changes his mind next week if SI gets outbid. ;)

Unlikely. Our boosters only hand out about $500 at a time (Troy Smith) whereas some universities who shall not be named (Big Blue) have boosters that have handed out hundreds of thousands of dollars (Fab 5). It's simply not in our Booster's budget, apparently. :)

Will we still have to wait about 6 weeks for final verdict?

Not sure if it will be 6 weeks, but it won't be today or anytime relatively soon.

Also, Tressel walked out of the conference room and said "We're done," but declined further comment. He did give the media guys there a written statement that should be posted somewhere online soon.

Six weeks if they do it faster than normal. The NCAA is not known for expediting anything. :)

Copy of letter to Ohio State on July 13 on status of investigation, reference to one additional allegation bit.ly/pNy4ZD
Letter says if more allegations found from ongoing investigation, could lead to lack of institutional control. Makes sense.

Yeah Michigan fucked up by giving him a hotel room. If not for that, history may be different.

That email is from 7/13/11, not last week like ESPN claimed.

It shows that letter is not the one Forde was referencing.

He was wrong about when the letter was sent. Probably because it wasn't brought to his attention until last week, and he didn't actually see the date on the letter. Was he correct about the letter's content?

It seems some of his story had some truth to it. You still think that this guy publishing a national article based on misinformation is ok, even though the end result was accurate??

This is what I assume. He didn't get the info until last week. I'd have to look at the original story and see how he reference the dates.

The end result being correct sure is a lot better than having wrong date!

The letter didn't get sent to OSU. It went from the NCAA directly to COI.

The NCAA notified Ohio State by letter last week that it is still investigating other issues involving the program.
Yes, he certainly was incorrect about when the letter was received. Seems like a technicality though compared to putting out a false story.
