You need a remedial reading course. Where did I say all anonymous sources weren't credible? Talk about assuming...

If ESPN is lying about the ongoing investigation, they sure are going all out.

When Ohio State spokesman Jim Lynch was questioned last week specifically about Talbott by ESPN's Tom Farrey, his response indicated that the investigation of the football program is ongoing.

"... We will not be able to discuss details of our active investigation with the NCAA until the matter has been resolved," Lynch wrote in an email to Farrey.

Well duuuuuuuh.

The hearing is tomorrow and the punishment won't be announced for weeks after that.

Of course the "matter" hasn't been resolved yet.

Meaning until they meet with the infraction committe, and are handed out their punishment, they can't talk about it. ESPN surmised much more from that quote than they should have.

Saw that one of the sources in the SI article has talked to the NCAA and will talk tomorrow at the hearing.

The Ellis guy. Won't be talking at the hearing tomorrow, but will talk to the NCAA next week apparently. Also, this is a lie unless writerbuckeye posts a link from elevenwarriors, bucknuts, or alongtheolentangy saying otherwise. Only OSU sites take the time to research things. Its really a shame what the media outside of Ohio has become.

Apparently it's "Mr. Ellis". But that can't be right because SI didn't name him in the article. Right Writer?

The one called "Ellis" that the author whined about the NCAA refusing to give anonymity to for his testimony.

I honestly don't know what this person could say that will cause any further infractions for Ohio State. Even if he can prove some other players were at the shop who have denied it, there would be no further penalty for OSU. Just being at the shop isn't any violation.

Unless he has receipts for memorabilia to share, he can't prove anything on that front. All but two pieces of memorabilia of the people already implicated in the SI article have been located and cataloged.

I guess we'll find out...

LOL...it's not like the prosecution will be calling a surprise witness. I'm sure, IF this guy is talking, the NCAA and OSU already know what he has to say.

It was a pseudonym, genius. He didn't use his real name. No different than an anonymous source in that sense.

Hmmm...they didn't seem to mind commenting when they ended their internal investigation of the car deals. That issue didn't have anything to do with the allegations being discussed today, just like the Talbott deal doesn't have anything to do with today's meeting. ESPN could be stretching again, but OSU has commented on separate topics in the past.

“We have seen no evidence that would lead us to believe that Ohio State student athletes violated any policies when purchasing used cars,” said university spokesman Jim Lynch.
