Anybody see this? Thoughts? Comments?

I guess the university anymore should tell athletes you're never allowed to autograph anything, ever, and have to leave all of your university marked clothes locked in a locker room inside the WHAC to prevent NCAA violations. What a crock of shit.

And the best you could get was Ray Small and Bruce Hooley to interview about this problem? Of course both of them have hidden agendas to the point where they want Ohio State to get pimp slapped by the NCAA on Friday...

For those of us who didn't see it perhaps you could summarize the story for us instead of just commenting on it.

Basically came out this morning and said that the problem with which we're currently dealing with has been created by Ohio State as far back as the '02 season with autograph signings that featured former players taking place around the state... also said that the night practices with the autograph sessions the past couple of season were also potential NCAA violations

Is there still anyone out there who doesn't think ESPN has an on-going agenda against OSU?

This piece was nothing more than an effort to persuade the NCAA to give Ohio State worse sanctions.

If they'd used anyone credible in the piece, it might have had some impact. But Hooley and Small have become caricatures in this mess.

Me. I think ESPN is full of terrible journalists anyway and they are just remarkably horrible with everything. Ohio State is just the story du jour.

Really? Name one other program that has come under one half the scrutiny Ohio State has in the last decade by ESPN. Just one.

The Rich Rod saga at Michigan perhaps? Notre Dame's Ty Willingham debacle maybe?

I doubt those things combined came to anywhere near half the negative coverage OSU has been subjected to over the past decade.

Actually, not sure if that link is what they aired today, no comments from Hooley. Just saw that the OTL twitter account shared that link.

Kentucky in basketball. Not a SINGLE legit incident has occurred since Calipari was hired. Therefore, the negative press should have been zero. It's been more than zero, I'll tell you that.

ESPN has nothing against OSU. Like someone else said. It's more about sensationalism and ratings, not journalism or the truth. The big name programs/schools who are talked about by the big names on big shows on ESPN will lead to discussion just like this. It's exactly what they want...

Oh, gimme a break...UK basketball gets zero negative press from ESPN. Maybe there are these "rumors" or whatever about certain players...but they report "rumors" from everywhere.

I do agree though, I don't think there's an anti-OSU agenda from ESPN. I would agree more with Tobias about their poor journalism. As well as with you about the "sensationalism and ratings." If people think there's an anti-OSU agenda...then maybe OSU should do a better job of sorting out the problems they have internally so that there isn't a reason to have an anti-OSU agenda. Their problems they are facing happen to be fixable and preventable if they actually cared. They brought their problems on their own, ESPN didn't have to create any problems in order to report them.

Like my point was. Nothing negative about Kentucky should have ever been mentioned by ESPN since Calipari was hired. There hasn't been anything that has occurred under his watch AT KENTUCKY that has deserved negative press. So the fact that there has been ANY just shows this principle. When news is slow, you can always dig SOMETHING up SOMEWHERE and connect a few links to create a story. While this OSU story is pretty big, today's show was nothing more than them digging around in the same hole others have already combed through completely. It was a bunch about nothing...

I always crack up at the people who say ESPN hates OSU. My friends, as the old saying goes, bad news is better than no news. As OSU fans, you should relish the fact ESPN talks about the Buckeyes on a daily basis, it keeps your name in the headlines and gets people interested. Where you don't want to be is a team that they never talk about because once you go down that road, nobody pays you any mind.

ESPN radio has been re-hashing same ole, same ole the last couple of mornings....interview with Pryors buddy who witnessed the "40K" of cash for autographs, etc. .....the kid in the interview sounds as ignorant, or more so than Pryor himself (if that's possible)....last ditch effort to get there digs in before the ruling this week. You have the Holtz's that will give credit when credit is due, then there are the May's :(....
NCAA will decide whats credible and whats not (i hope).....

unfortunately it seems as if the NCAA goes a lot with what the court of public opinion also thinks most of the time....

I was with you initially on this, but I'm starting to agree with my fellow Buckeye fans. The amount of attention ESPN has been giving this story, compared to what they have given to Auburn, LSU, and Oregon has kind of been a joke.
