First off, watch the unnecessary name calling.
Second... my point holds true. While there might be a few people who care in NY, the majority don't... the overwhelming majority don't. You keep throwing out this 350,000 number like it's supposed to be impressive.
New York city has a population of a little over 8 million, New York Metropolitan area is a little over 18 million I believe. You said area which is kind of vague, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're talking about the city proper.
350,000 is about 4.3% of 8 million... NOT THAT IMPRESSIVE. And you're number becomes even less impressive when you're just saying alumni. We're talking about males and females. Generally females are much less of sport fans than males... and not every male that goes to college is a sports fan... heck, as I've already said, most people from the North East/New England area of the country don't care about college football but focus on professional sports.
Of that 350,000 alumni in the area, I'd be shocked if at least 150,000 of them were actual Rutgers fans.
150,000 people out of 8 million is really not that impressive at all. But we'll give credit and say even if 350,000 are all Rutgers football fans (which I highly doubt)... 4.3% of New Yorkers caring about Rutgers football is essentially no one.
I made many assumptions in your favor and your statement still comes out weak.
I understand wanting to represent your employer in a positive light... but come on man, you're not fooling anyone into thinking that Rutgers has a huge draw in New York.
The North East coast just doesn't care for college football like the south or midwest. They are professional sports much more so.
