The Cleveland Browns will win a Super Bowl eventually thats not saying a whole lot. Belichick is an ass-hole but a very successful ass-hole. King Doosher will choke away another AFC championship in 2011.

Rex has 4 playoff wins in his first two seasons. He'll win a Super Bowl eventually, I'd say.
If by this you mean, "one of the greatest coaches, if not THE greatest to coach the game" then yes.

Even still, his postseason stats are better than most coaches. He gets players to play to the best of their ability even when they're looked over by many other teams.

And really, are playoff games meaningful? Until the AFC/NFC championship games and the superbowl of course. And even then, Ryan hasn't won either of those.

Bottom line, Rex has been a better coach than Belichick over the past two years which is the only timeframe we can go by to evaluate the two against each other. Rex is 3-2 vs Bill, including the playoff win last season. Belichick obviously has the resume of one of the best of all-time, but he's still a dick and hasn't won shit in 7 years. The "genius" has sort of worn off, IMO.

Also, Bill won 13 games combined his 1st two seasons as a head coach. Rex has won 24.

Granted they were with the Browns, who if they had Vince Lombardi as coach, would still perennially suck.

True, but the Jets aren't typically a powerhouse in the NFL. They are usually teh suck.

Heck, by that line of thinking, Mangini is almost on par with the Hoodie for coaching "greatness."

How so? Mangini has never won a playoff game.

I'm not trying to discredit what Belichick has done in the past, but until he wins another playoff game he will continue to be overrated.

They are 3-3 head to head in the regular season. Belichick gets the nod because he's beaten Mangini's team in the playoffs.

Also, Belichick hasn't won anything since Spygate. Coincidence? :)

Probably.

Rex had the money to toy around with even in his first season. You know who our "stud" receiver was? Troy Brown. Who was also one of our DB's and our punt returner. When Bill started he had NOBODY. I won't make the argument about who is the better coach. I think stats speak for themselves. Also, the genius hasn't worn off. If it had, Danny Woodhead wouldn't have played a single football game last season. It doesn't matter how good your coaching skills are sometimes you just don't win. Hell, the Yankees pay the their players more than you can imagine and had Joe Torre as skip, but still didn't win every world series.

It just doesn't happen all the time. Winning the Super Bowl isn't easy.

No. Spygate is so blown out of proportion. Stealing signs is a part of every sport. The Patriots just had their camera man standing in the wrong place. Do you really think the Jets or everyone else in the league doesn't steal signs?

How about baseball? It's normal to steal signs.

There's no way around it, Belichick is one of if not the best. All of the excuses in the world can be made, but reality is reality. I won't take anything away from the Jets. Hell, I love Santonio Holmes. I think Sanchez is a tough SOB, I just can't stand Rex. I know it's one of those things where you love or hate him... just like Belichick. I just think he's too obnoxious for the game. He's the equivalent of TO, but as a head coach.

He actually won 17 straight games starting the week after "Spygate" and was a once in a generation play away from a super bowl that year.

As for the topic, I'm on the fence. Despite the fact that Rex is as loud as he is, you can't say the man isn't a gamer. I think he takes losses more personally than any other coach in the league and his players love him for it. How many other guys can say that Bart Scott threatened another man's well being for poking fun at them? For that I admire him in an odd tribal ankle tat sort of way.

This is the root cause of my hatred towards BB.

"I resign as the HC of the NYJ" scrawled out on a piece of paper. He took $1mil from a dying old man and told an entire organize to fuck off, essentially. I can appreciate what he has done has a head coach and he's obviously one of the best ever, but he'll always be a piece of shit to me.
