NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.
Study co-author Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and U.S. Science Team Leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA's Aqua satellite, reports that real-world data from NASA's Terra satellite contradict multiple assumptions fed into alarmist computer models.
"The satellite observations suggest there is much more energy lost to space during and after warming than the climate models show," Spencer said in a July 26 University of Alabama press release. "There is a huge discrepancy between the data and the forecasts that is especially big over the oceans."
In addition to finding that far less heat is being trapped than alarmist computer models have predicted, the NASA satellite data show the atmosphere begins shedding heat into space long before United Nations computer models predicted.
The new findings are extremely important and should dramatically alter the global warming debate.

They have not made it home from their union meetings yet. It takes awhile in those hybrid cars, since they only go 25 mph.

It's called "Climate Change" silly, not Global Warming.

He'd fuel up his jet and fly up to take a look-see for himself, but gotta sell that because he won't be able to afford the taxes!

I wouldn't totally discount it, but that the sample size is pretty small to prove or disprove global warming.

The planet's climate is changing, but it is unclear by how much, how fast and why.

I don't believe anyone denied the climate might be changing -- in fact, it seems pretty obvious there have been changes. Most of us who don't believe in MAN MADE global warming have a problem with the MAN MADE part, not that the climate might be changing.

A better question is: if the weather is changing as it appears, is it doing so because (1) it's part of some natural cycle we're not aware of or (2) is there some other cause (like solar activity) that's not being given credit.

Yeah, I get ya. I'm just saying there is not enough data to rule one way or another.

So, at best, the global cooling crisis....oops, I mean the Global Warming crisis....darn...I really mean the Climate Change crisis has an unknown cause. There is "consensus" among scientists that eeeevil rotten U.S. industrialists are to blame for an increase in global temperatures. Then there are climatologists and solar experts that can prove that volcanic activity and sun spots have far more deleterious effects than AlGore's satanic combustion engine. There is no definite proof that the planet is undergoing a climatic change that will last for blank decades nor is there proof that 2-legged creatures have caused any climactic change.

Therefore, why in hell would anyone stand behind those that want to radically change our energy sources, change from oil to exotic metal battery-based technologies, and completely fail to deliver clean inexpensive energy? Why change our entire economic system and infrastructure based on what could be the greatest hoax ever promulgated on the human race? The politics of it all far outweigh the science at this point and we are being coerced to change our way of life for no proven reason.

I agree, which is why "green energy" and other such phrases need deleted from every single US law, regulation, statute, etc. until (if ever) the science if firm.

For some to suggest that anything other than Climate Homeostasis is a reason to handcuff US industry is downright ridiculous. Yet many in our government (even some "conservatives") continue full speed ahead.

AlGore is laughing al the way all they way to the bank. He has made millions upon millions of dollars scaring the cash out of people. World leader made for convenient bedfellows. They shower him with cash in the hopes he can scare enough of their citizens to beg their leaders to do something to save them. He is as slimy as the snake oil salesman preying on the ignorant.

I shudder to think that we were within an inch or so (votewise in FL) of Slimy Al being elected President in 2000.

Not only that the house bought some snake oil and passed cap and trade. The senate barely stopped it. I shudder to think that we were that close to having that ball and chain shackled around our ankles. The voters threw the house out on its ass and that was one of the big reasons.

The planet's climate has continually changed - always has and always will, for a variety of reasons (most of them known and proven) ........ none of which have anything to do with "vaunted human activity". We are nothing more than a pin-dot sized blip on a radar screen the size of a football field.

Hottest summers on record were back in the 1930s. So are you telling me man was responsible for all that heat, too? And while some portions of the antarctic ice have retreated, others have grown. It's pretty clear the scientists don't really know what's going on...or what's causing it. Further proof that we shouldn't be changing our entire way of life.

When science has definitive proof that man is causing these problems (without fudging the numbers as they've been caught doing several times), then we can talk about things man should do to turn things around.

Until then...no.

That pretty well sums it all up. The interwebz have really dumbed down America because now people can find like-minded idiots to validate their ignorance. I admittedly haven't looked at the science as much as I'd like to, but have drawn pretty much the same conclusion as you have. It does seem to be a theory supported by empirical evidence IF you ignore empirical evidence that doesn't support it (which most would call junk science).

I love moronic statements. No one here said that the planet wasnt getting warmer right now. They are laughing about the man made part.

What is there to laugh at? The cave man was responsible for the Ice Age melting, when they were driving their SUV's and flying around in their planes! BBQ's every night, and inefficient furnaces. Drilling for oil, and coal. What a bunch of irresponsible and unevolved doofus's!!
