Also, its been proven he couldn't eat for 27 years. Was he able to drink water or gatorade during that time?

Depending on the weather, he could have gotten plenty of rain water to wash it down. After a while, I'd guess he'd get used to the bird shit enough to tell what kind of bird was providing his next meal. You know, the "awww fuck, another pigeon...damn, I remember when a couple sparrows were there...now that was some good shit!" sort of thing.
