Pryor's best bet is to play a season or two in the CFL or something and actually learn hot to play QB, then try and get into the NFL. Take the year off (if he is ineligible) and learn the position.

I don't believe he would have played another down at OSU, either. And I honestly don't care enough about him, anymore, to wonder why OSU is doing it or even care.

"Learning the position" with an NFL team would be the most beneficial. How could the CFL or any other route prepare him better than practicing with an actual NFL squad?

I'm guessing his agent probably asked for something to be released so he can be eligible for the draft.
his lawyer actualy asked for it.

Pryor going pro helped osu avoid other possible sanctions. Im just glad he isnt a snitch

I should have added that I think his stock COULD rise if he gained an additional year of experience. Same concept as if a player stays for his senior season to learn his position better and get better experience for the NFL; except instead of doing that in college, Pryor would be doing it in a league that is not the NFL.

When NFL teams see he's not a good QB--in the CFL--he wouldn't even get a shot in the NFL. Why in the hell would he go to the CFL? lol

We are talking about the same NFL that had Cam Newton as a #1 draft pick.

What? lol

I'm saying if he goes to the CFL and sucks, he's not going to get a chance in the NFL, ever.

Why wouldn't he just go to the NFL now (which would be a significantly higher paycheck)?

I can't believe that Ohio State retroactively made him ineligible to help him out. That upsets me a little.

Part of Gene's letter to TP. This whole think just reeks of shadiness to me.
""I have appreciated your willingness in the past to consent to lengthy interviews by the institution and the NCAA, and to provide certain financial records," Smith said in the letter to Pryor. "I was disappointed to learn from your attorney that as of June 7, 2011, you have chosen not to interview (any more) with the representatives of the NCAA and the Ohio State University.

"In light of that decision, the university must declare you ineligible for intercollegiate competition because you failed to cooperate with the university in violation of NCAA Bylaw 10.1," which requires, among other things, cooperation and forthright, honest answers.

In addition, Smith wrote, "due to that failure to cooperate, the university must disassociate you from its athletic program for a period of five years."

Tressel turned out tp be a liar. The corruption of huge money for coaches and the pressures from it will cause many honest people to compromise integrity.

Makes sense for TP. Helps him get to the NFL. Dude just had a key part in almost burning down the university and we turn around and help him out here?

I would have let him twist in the wind

That reasoning is retarded. He is saying "because you helped us out by not talking to the NCAA, we will help you out in your attempt to gain entry into the supplemental draft" and is spinning it as if its some kind of punishment. Gene Smith is a moron.

Him not talking anymore with the NCAA is the reason OSU won't burn down.

Yeah "retroactively". There wasn't a snowballs chance in hell OSU was going to let Pryor play next year, and anyone but the trolls knew that to be true.

OSU can't do anything right for the haters. If we don't make this release, the haters would say "OSU doesn't care about their players, and they are holding them hostage so they can't pursue their future careers." Like I've said before, we'll keep winning, you'll keep hating.

I'm guessing this was only provided because there was a request as to Pryor's status with the University. I find it shady as hell, but I don't think they are going to be issuing anything that isn't asked for

Right. My point exactly. Just a strange move all around.

I don't think "strange" is the word for it. Seems fairly logical. I can see where opposing fans may not like it, but as an OSU fan, I think it was the smart thing to do.

Didn't they do the same thing as TP with the tattoos?

yes, but from what I understand this was a move to facilitate Pryor's eligibility into the supplemental draft--this really wasn't meant as a punishment, per se
