It's obviously still an early build, but honestly, I'm not too big of a fan so far. I know the purpose of it, and it's not for the heavy user (unless you have constant internet access everywhere you go) but imo, it's nothing more than the Google Chrome web browser with attached applications. If you want that, just visit google.com and check the "more" section.

I'm not sure if an online only OS is going to succeed, especially if you're just looking for a free or cheap OS and Ubuntu is out there, which is a fully offline functioning OS.

Tried Chrome when the initial release was out, and I just didn't like it. Sticking with Safari and a hosts file here with nightly updates to WebKit.

Just to be clear, this isn't the Google Chrome web browser, this is the actual Google Chrome Operating system.

For anybody who may overlook anything.

I know it is not the same, but, I use Google Chrome on my home PC, instead of IE, and love it.

LTrain, it appears that most people on here can't read. It probably would have helped if Google had given it a different name instead of the same name as their web browser.

I have ubuntu at home and haven't installed it. I'm worried that my programs on windows won't come over (like office and any DVD, and stuff like that).

+100

I think the intention was to build on Chrome the browser and it was the foundation of the OS. But still, dumb to use the same name.

lol, it's all good.

I agree that Google Chrome OS isn't a good name to use. Exact same name as the web browser...

But I agree with Webfire. Because that's all it is. It's basically Google Chrome with plug-ins and features.

I've messed around with it a bit, but I don't like it very much.

Yeah, I like it a lot too.

Did you download the developers release or is the final release out yet?

Yeah, just looked, they have the beat release out for it now...

Sweet, I can finally upgrade from the early build I had..
