Gonna start this a day early cuz of a few tidbits that I didn't know where else to put.

First the rumor is that Valbuena is on his way back to CBus. No word on who is coming up to replace him but I wouldn't be surprised with Kipnis.

Second is the news that Grady Sizemore had abdominal surgery today to repair a sports hernia. 4 to 6 week recovery. He says he hurt it sliding back in May and it's bothered him every since.

As for this series, well every series with Central foes is huge from this point forward. We'll need another strong performance from Huff and the rest of the starters. I have faith that the Bullpen Mafia will put a rough Minny series behind them and continue their dominance.

Maybe I'm off but it seems like the White Sox own us.

If the front office doesn't get some offensive help in here, QUICKLY, we're in trouble. I don't have good feelings about this series.

With Grady being out for a month or better, it is imperative the FO bring in someone fast. If Beltran and Pence are out of the question, they need to look hard at getting Francoeur. He would be the next best option.

We need someone badly. The outfield is a complete joke without Choo and Grady. Oh and they have no chance of beating Chicago and I'm sure we'll end the season in the basement of the division.

The only reason I would think it wouldn't be Kipnis is if they want another OFer and bring up Jered Head instead. I don't think they'll bring up Kipnis and put him in the outfield.

Jason Kipnis just posted on his twitter that he's being brought up to Cleveland.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with Kipnis. He has to play, so either Orlando is sitting or he goes to the OF, which I was told he was drafted at. (I put this on the other thread about Beltran too).

he'll swap places with Duncan

fragile and his time has come---trade bait

Tribe takes 1 of 3, which ain't too bad considering they're playing the ChiSox

Grady isnt trade bait for the same reason Fausto isnt. To much money tied up with each player for too long.

My White Sox need a sweep to stay in the Central race after dropping two games to the Royals. Offense hasn't been showing up recently.

Anyone know if Grady is trade bait? If not, why?

Valbuena is just the worst player. So glad he's gone. Looking forward to seeing Kipnis.

5 of the 15 posts are duplicates, is there really a need for that?

I'm not one who normally would say that anyone series at this point in the year is critical, but I think this one...and this homestand in particular is a fork in the road. They had a chance to really bury the Twins, and blew it. Now the Chi Sox come into town followed by the Angels. Things could go south in a real hurry. These are young players and emotions will be high. I'm not sure the shuttle to CBus is the answer for staying on top of the pack. Too many games have been given away by Acta putting out some absolutely horrible line-ups on the field, and by paralysis in the front office to make a deal for a hitter that could have helped LAST MONTH. They are going to have to trade somebody of value...and the situation worsens by the day as injuries pile up and the Indians desperate need becomes more acute and obvious.

Terrible example. A-Rod at the time of his trade, was the best player in the game. Well worth the investment for a team that could handle the payroll.

thanks, laley-lol...my point was that monies being paid to someone is not necessarily a reason that they wouldn't be trade bait...you P'burgers are an ornery group, ain't ya'!!!

Right, but Im saying most teams who can afford that payroll look at the payoff and see it as a positive. NO one is going to look at Grady on their payroll and think its a positive payoff. Even if you have money to spend like the Yankees, they wouldnt invest in Sizemore.

I beg to differ, and I guess we'll just have to wait and see...teams have paid more for less, that's for sure

I agree with Hits that this series will be a fork in the road. The unwillingness of the FO to not make any moves yet baffles me.

I know. Maybe it was a bad example, cause teams are dumb. But the reason a trade will be made is much different than with A-Rod.

Also, I dont think a player on the DL can be traded right? Or is that not the case in baseball?

I thought that was the case as well but I did a quick Google search and it doesn't seem like there is any rule against trading a DL player.

I think the FO will make a move before the deadline but I think it's been hard up to this point because so many teams were within striking distance in their divisions is was hard to tell who the sellers were. As we get closer teams will have to decide and players might become available that weren't a week ago. I'm ok with the FO holding out if it means they get a good deal.
