If they are reversing the wins from last year, Does that mean they get the Loss back from Purdue? :)

Christ almighty people, Ohio State doesn't have to forfeit any games. They VACATE them. Ohio State doesn't lose the games they won last year, they just have to wipe them off the record books. All the teams Ohio State beat last season still count those games as losses. Michigan still hasn't beaten Ohio State since 2003.

I've come to the conclusion that Gene Smith is an idiot and needs to be "vacated" himself. He has been beating up his department, his coaches, his players, and his University without so much as a peep out of the NCAA. He talks out of the side of his mouth about how good a job his compliance officers are, and how wonderful his coaches are doing, and then he proceeds to pull the rug out from under them and the University.

You are right Gene...they are doing a good job...and your school is really pretty clean. So what's the freakin' worry? You didn't need to fire our coach or run your quarterback out of school. You didn't need to vacate the season. Christ, what are you going to do next????? Quit grovelling before a flawed system that hasn't even ruled yet, it's disgusting.

If there is a next thing to do...and I think there is...It's for you to fall on your sword.

Jawbreaker;824847 wrote:How did firing Jim O'Brien work out for OSU? I know this is a different situation but still, I don't think OSU wanted to go down that road again.

Actually, it worked pretty well as far as timing and getting a guy like Matta. Who cares what OSU had to pay out in terms of O'Brien sueing OSU. To OSU, it wasn't really that much money when it came down to it.

Which, could be the reason they changed it to retirement instead of being fired or resigning. My guess is there was something within his contract about how much OSU might pay into, or pay to Tressel when his tenure was finished.

Damn, Des went in on OSU. Kinda funny, but I don't think he should've said it....especially since he's an analyst.

Of course the streak vs. Michigan stands.....it's just a 6-game win streak now instead of 7.

Some of the media people are really pissed at OSU for not opening up today for the presser, namely the flagship station.

OSU is handling this as bad as Lebron handled The Decision.

You just figuring that out? That original press conference was a total cluster fuck. All of the PR people should have been fired immediately. Every move since then has been just about as bad (not quite). They are a disgrace to media relations professionals.

Rod Gilmore thinks that OSU is gonna get hammered by the NCAA. He made some interesting points on CFL today.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE... SLEEPER IS A ****ING POSER! HE IS NOT... let me repeat... NOT AN OSU FAN. IN EVERY SINGLE POST OF HIS, HE HAS UNDERTONES OF 'OSU ARROGANCE' as if the program can do no wrong. He's clearly flaming.

It amazes me how many people haven't caught on to this bastard.

LOL wut?

I'm an alumnus of Ohio State. I don't think the punishment will happen, and it won't, take it to the bank. What Tressel did was wrong, what the players did deserves their suspension and nothing more. Vacate the season, 2-3 scholarships over 3 years, and call it a day.

OSU 2011-2012 Big Ten Champions, bank it.

I was traveling this afternoon and was bouncing between 97.1 the Fan and 610. Both stations were PO'd they were not invited. They passionately cover OSU athletics as well as anyone. Also not getting the invite would be the Plain Dealer, the Beacon Journal, the Dayton Daily News, the Toledo Blade and every other major paper in the state aside from the Dispatch. OSU unnecessarily burnt some bridges today.

The OSU situation is worse. USC was the result of one player that no coaches knew about. OSU is about multiple players, along with Clarett, Smith and O'Brien along with the lying and cover up of a coach. That's not mentioning the knowingly playing of ineligible players for an entire season.

Honestly, I don't see how anyone could think OSU isn't worse than USC.
