oh...this year.....there are about 3.....then again, the football team only has 35 kids including freshman....its been down a little the past few years, not sure whats going on there.

Waynedale head wrestling coach is also an assistant football coach....so he doesnt levy for the kids to specialize, believe me!!! His son is quarterback!

Have not been on this site in a very long time and it doesn't look like it gets much activity like it did. 6 weeks till wrestling season. Should be a very strong and historic season for Wayne County. Good luck to all the wrestlers in this county, I think I have had at least 1 wrestler from every school in the county at our camps at one time or another and they are always the best behaved and hardest workers. Very grateful and humble to be with Coach Stanley. True integrity and character is tested in the toughest times and this coach never wavered, nor did one single administrator. Karma, work ethic, values, chemistry I think makes for a perfect storm this winter. Good luck to every kid experienced or new to the sport that has the courage to be wrestler.

Vance takes over the Head Coaching spot at Chippewa! Does this help boost the program or set them back?

Thoughts???

We'll see on the Ryan Vance move. Osting did a nice job in Doylestown, Vance definitely has the best girls wrestling team in the county but I'm not sure what's left in the cupboard as far as this year goes.

Bryson Hall is gone. Are Srock & Eisenhour coming back? If so, that's something to build on. The other names I can think of are Lance, Bramley, Shook and Spach along with the Hall girls. If all those grapplers were underclassmen last year and return and improve, the Chipps could have a decent squad. I really don't know who graduated and who is returning.

Best of luck to Vance, it's a chance to continue with the building of a program that seems to be on the upswing. The WCAL needs to be more than the Waynedale/Northwestern league. Hopefully Norwayne, Smithville, Chippewa & Hillsdale rise to the occasion sooner rather than later.

I'am looking out the back window of my house right now and looking at my son sitting at a bon fire with a likely Wayne county opponent....Shelby Hall. Could be awkward match time.... I like Vance, I think and hope he does well for the Chipps. It was an honor introducing the Hall Girls to Freestyle and seeing them do well in Fargo even though they had to wrestle for a different state to go. A few more weeks....show time!!!

Any thoughts on if one of the Nelsons may bring home a state title this yr? I know they've already improved a lot on their skills since we last saw them at state 2 hrs ago...

Big Offseason....Big Dreams....Big Goals....Thats why we wrestle the matches...mano a mano....best man wins....let the cards fall as they will. Lot of matches to wrestle before the state tournament...actually...if a Bear were to go to State UNDEFEATED...he could be about 55-0 to 58-0 heading to The Schott. Heavy scheduled matches....
