Anyone have any good "old school" cartoon suggestions that are on streaming? Watching Inspector Gadget right now with my daughter.

Just when I thought your brain damage couldn't be any worse. :)

Deadwood ranks as one of the best series of all time in TV (cable or otherwise) as does Oz. Six Feet Under is really good, especially the first couple seasons before it began taking itself too seriously...and Rome is just a quality piece of TV. However, together, that group may be among the best EVER on cable TV (outside of the Sopranos). And I say all this liking Trueblood a lot, and Boardwalk Empire.

If you haven't seen it yet check out Kill the Irishman. It's about Cleveland mobster Danny Greene. Good movie.

Really good movie. Saw it in the theater without knowing much about it other than it was about a Cleveland Mob...Good acting and writing, though the special effects were laughably bad.

Another request for suggestions, for you veteran netflix subscribers: Any suggestions for a GOOD horror flick? I mean one that will actually be suspenseful.

Back to the premium channel shows discussion. I just finished season 6 of Weeds, so I have now watched the consensus two best shows on Showtime (Dexter, Weeds), and some of HBO's best shows (Sopranos, The Wire, Entourage). Weeds is a classic example of a show that just totally jumped the shark. It did this around season three when the show differed from it's original premise of a pot-dealing soccer mom in a suburban community, to a bunch of utter ridiculousness to say the least. Comparing Showtime's big Comedy/Drama, Weeds to HBO's big Comedy/Drama, Entourage is, in my opinion, Entourage by a mile. And then comparing Showtime's Crime Drama, Dexter to HBO's Crime Drama, The Sopranos or The Wire, is an even bigger victory for HBO. Not that Dexter is a bad show. I enjoyed it, and liked it better than Weeds. But it just doesn't compare to HBO's best shows. So for anyone looking to get into premium channel shows, I'd go with HBO based on what I've seen so far. Next on my list is Californication on Showtime and Rome/Oz/Deadwood on HBO.

I just noticed that they have every Star Trek Movie (of old) EXCEPT Star Trek III - Search For Spock. Why would they leave out just ONE?

Oh no question about it. HBO SMOKES Showtime, imo. You didnt even list some of HBOs other great shows. But I know you are getting to those in due time. There is a reason HBO is typically 5 more bucks than Showtime on most cable providers.

Meh. Curb, Deadwood, Oz, and Boardwalk are probably the top 4 of those shows. I'd call the overall lineups about even. I've never watched Rome though and couldn't get into True Blood. Vampires suck.

And I know that I just quoted a post from 4 weeks ago, but I didn't see it until now.

Well, lol at the inital poster. Cause Deadwood and OZ are on HBO. So all 4 of your "best shows" are HBO. But that makes sense, cause as I said before, HBO is way better.

So I am about 35 minutes into The Tourist and I'm just not interested. Does it get better? I read somewhere that it received Golden Globe nominations. Can't figure out why so far.

It has a good twist. But not that great of a movie.

I will keep watching it but I'm not impressed at all so far. Not one of Depp's best.

I usually hate his movies lol. But I always think I will like them. Really about a 50-50 split for me.

I don't care how you get it, Netflix or torrents, but every person should be required to watch The Wire. It's impossible to succinctly explain how powerful, great, and yet entertaining it is.
The wire is the best show ever

1. The Wire
2. Lost
3. Sopranos
5. Weeds (season 1 and 2 and maybe this season with the recent twist)
5. Entourage
