You couldn't walk in the front door of Hills without getting your ass stomped by the popcorn smell.

The Anderson's and Sears are keeping it open. If you can say that...

Milbarge, Do you remember when the Soap Box Derby used to be run on Youngstown Rd. next to Hills? I remember the great popcorn they had there, too.

When Big Bear and Harts turned into Big Bear Plus trying to be Meijer or Wal-Mart, it was ballgame.

Hills was awesome.

I remember when Ames bought it, immediately my mom was like "They're screwed."

Hills was where you went when you didn't want to go to a shitty Ames. All that did was double the amount of shitty Ames'!

Woodville Mall just got sold not all that long ago. Last I was in there, there was like 3 stores open. Is the movie theatre even open anymore? I loved Hills. That building and lot are very sad. They did try to put a trade center in there for a minute too.

Our Hills in Teays Valley, WV sat empty for 9 years until a few months ago when a Magic Mart opened there.

On the opposite side of the shopping center was a Big Bear and that building has been empty for 5 years now.

In the middle is Elder Beerman, DMV and a few smaller stores that managed to survive without the 2 anchors.

That's the one I remember. Was Hills, then Ames, then Steve and Barry's. Not sure what it is now.
Steve and Barry's closed and now it is empty.

The old Rink's in Marietta still has the letters on the storefront, but it's an indoor weekend flea market now.

Those letters are awful clean and bright for a store that closed over 30 years ago.

You'd be amazed a how good those letters look compared to everything else. Drive down SR 7 past there! I do it once a month back and forth between the hometown and school.

Apparently that pic was taken in 2008, so it does still look that good.

The entryway to the Hills I grew up going to always smelled of fresh piss and popcorn.

Was everyone else greeted by that pleasant aroma, or was it an our-Hills exclusive?

Rinks is the GOAT. Went there many times during my time at Marietta College.

Was driving through an area of Cincinnati that I had never been through before and passed another Rinks. I about crapped my pants I was so happy.
