Take this for what it's worth, but should make for some good discussion. Pittsburgh has 2 in the Top 10, the Steelers at #7 and the Penguins at #10.

The worst, at #122. The Cincinnati Bengals. The second worst, The Washington Redskins. Not surprising for either considering the ownership for both. Shocked the Pirates weren't down there as well.

Didn't see the actual list so no idea where the other teams rank other than the top and bottom 10. Don't know why in the world the Lightning are ranked so high.

NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder (6)
NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers (#7)
MLB’s Colorado Rockies (#8)
NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies (#9)
NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins (#10)

Bottom 10

The Pittsburgh Pirates ranked 70th out of 122!!! That's almost better than being .500!!!

I'm surprised the Clippers aren't in the bottom two.

Yes, they have Blake Griffin and a young core of talented players. They also still have Donald Sterling as their owner. He will find a way to fuck things up. He always does.

The Pirates above the Yankees, Red Sox and the Bruins?? Really? And I'm a fan but geesh. Affordability has to be a factor there.

Because I'm lazy and didn't click the link, someone want to explain how they ranked this? How on earth do you judge a franchise? And then compare it to other franchises?

Wins? Championships? Revenue? Community relations?

All of the above?

From the link:
The eight major categories that make up the Ultimate Standings were created based on feedback from fans about what they want most from their favorite teams (click here for a more detailed account of the method to our madness.) The categories:

Bang For The Buck (BNG): Wins during the past three years (regular season plus postseason) per revenues directly from fans, adjusted for league schedules.

Fan Relations (FRL): Openness and consideration toward fans by players, coaches and management.

Ownership (OWN): Honesty and loyalty to core players and local community.

Affordability (AFF): Price of tickets, parking and concessions.

Stadium Experience (STX): Quality of arena and game-day promotions as well as friendliness of environment.

Players (PLA): Effort on the field and likability off it.

Coaching (CCH): Strength of on-field leadership.

Title Track (TTR): Championships already won or expected in the lifetime of current fans.

Laughing at the ownership rankings. Out of 122, the Pirates are 119 and the Bengals 120. No shock there.

The magazine does a good job of using all factors . We all know which franchises are the most successful...this adds in many other things.

Kansas City Royals...haven't been worth a damn since 1985. I'm not too sure how they aren't in the bottom 10.

The Red Wings are the epitome of a great organization. The Pittsburgh Penguins are basically the NHL's version of General Motors...it wasn't too long ago they were bankrupt and about to sail outta town. How the hell are they at the top?

let me go into a room and draw up some crap Steelers are by far and away the best franchise..Only reason they put GB at #1 is because they are owned by the town a nice romantic notion . thay are up there but Pittsburgh should be way up and as much as I hate to say it my most hated team the Cowboys definitly should be in the top ten just for money purposes and value .. ownership stinks is all .. and Tampa Bay Lightning cmon Penguins had more fans in that building than they did.. Is Detroit Pistons that bad .They have numorous championships and a good fan base . Why isnt Oakland Raiders a bad franchise ? everything about them is bad .. fans dont come to the games and the ones that do try and kill the visitor fans The owner has dementia and they dont know if they are going back to LA... How about the Clippers .. they are in the worst catigory or did I miss that one ..Do the Bengals really deserve to be at the bottom ? They have a new stadium that fills with fans and have made the playoffs recently ..I dont know .....
NFL's Cincinnati Bengals (#122)

Agreed...so they could "technically" be "America's Team" if owners were in various parts of the country (or do they have to be GB natives?)

Don't have to be Green Bay natives. Anyone could have bought a "share" when they sold them on a couple of different occasions.
