You can separate it into categories of people who are officially running vs. completely hypothetical candidates if you'd like. I understand it's an "anyone but Obama," mode right now, but there has to be some sort of preference.
All other things being equal, I prefer someone with some executive experience, but in the R field that leaves us with Romney, Huntsman, Pawlenty, and maybe I forgot someone. None of those three gives me any reason to be excited.
That leaves me with:
Herman Cain: I really like him and his views, but I think he's still a little too inexperienced in a lot of areas
Newt Gingrich: Somehow the 10% I disagree with him on outweighs the 90% I do agree with. I think he's really smart, but the proverbial foot has gone into his mouth too many times. Plus he looks like he wants to fight everyone. If conservatism is really so great, you should at least smile every once in awhile.
Michele Bachmann: She's intriguing to me right now. I dont' agree with everything she's said or done, but I like the fact that she leads from the front on some important issues, and doesn't apologize. And she doesn't go out of her way to bash other conservatives. Kind of reminds me of Reagan when it comes to leadership. RR didn't ride the winds of a conservative movement- he was out in front defining what was good about it. I still need to hear a lot more from her, however.
Any of the above > Obama
