So ESPN said that the judge scheduled the next mediation with him for July 19th, which if it is not completed by then, the self imposed timeline for a full preseason would be in danger.

I was surprised when I saw this. I still think they try to get something hammered out by 7/15. I've heard there's just one sticking point before the deal is done.

Right. I believe ESPN said that the Bears and Rams need to be in camp by the 25th to be able to be ready fr the HOF game.

I have been informed that they are close enough for making travel arrangements for ALL of the preseason games.
Hopefully that is a good sign.

Apparently the owner gave in on the rookie wage scale today. If everything goes smoothly, COULD be done early next week.

Did Obama make it a national holiday mid post?

They also set a salary cap & floor. Should be good news for Browns fans because if the numbers I'm seeing are correct, the Browns have a shitload of spending to do just to meet the floor.

From PFT...
The ultimate outcome of the rookie wage scale represents a major victory for the league, with the total pay of the top 10 picks dropping by anywhere from 40 to 55 percent. The money will now be shifted to veterans and retired players.

I never understood why this was a contention, it makes sense for all involved (except if you are drafted in the top 10 based off of potential) that they pay the vets and make the rookies earn salary like every other sport does.

Agreed. My heart aches for old Cam Newton and the boys. Never should have been a situation where proven vets were making less than rookies who had never played a down.

Yup. Can't wait until this stupid thing is over with. I just read an article that said the Right of First Refusal isn't THAT big of an issue to the owners. Hopefully a deal is struck early next week. Anyone know how far behind the normal schedule they are at this point if at all?
