Well...the rookie symposium has already been cancelled and I've seen where the Browns have already taken down their preseason schedule off the website so this could be a long, drawn out deal....at least in the eyes of ownership.

EDIT: No shit Rog, ya think?

This will end soon. I predict by the end of June/early July. There will be a full regular season from what it's sounding like.

I hope you're right. It is my understanding that the federal appeals court isn't due back until august to rule on the legality of the lockout. Do you believe they will settle this before this ruling?

Yes. It's in their best interests to avoid going to court.

Just too much positive info that I'm hearing about this. I don't see it lasting much longer plus it wouldn't behoove either side for this to go back to court.

If both sides would just get together without the lawyers (like they have for a couple of meetings) this will get solved much quicker.

I'd guestimate they will announce the end of the lockout in conjunction with the 4th of July to look like a bunch of heroes....3 weeks of wild free agency after that followed by camps

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Research-group-calls-out-Ray-Lewis-8217-lockou?urn=nfl-wp2710

In humorous news, an actual research group looked into Ray Lewis' claims that no football = raise in crime. Shockingly, they found very little historical evidence to support that.

I would almost think it could be the opposite affect.

Less football for me would be less going to games....less tail gating...less spending time out of town with buddies....less attending of casino's....lesss visits to strip clubs....less drinking and partying out of town.....less sitting around 4-6 hours a week drinking with friends.

So,, I would think less NFL football would lead to me spending less money, drinking and partying alot less and hence hoping to keep outta the reach of potential trouble

Old agreement had players getting 60% of the revenues. Number thrown out is 9billion. Thing is with that....the owners took off a billion off the top so they were getting 60% of 8 billion.

Now they are offering 48% of the full shabang. Lets say profits raise to 10billion. Players would get 4.8billion of that for the salary cap. Old way would have them getting 60% of 9 billion which is what....5.4billion?

I imagine it is like anything....owners start low....players start high...and they meet in th emiddle.

Check rhat.....just read up on it and the percentage is based on ALL revenues, and not just designated revenues like before and no billion off the top.

They expect revenues to increase alot in the CBA. Before only certain revenues were divvied up...I guess ALL of it would now so the players ould get more than before.

but ya know...it still wont be enough for them

good to hear. that week and a half to two week free agency free-for-all before training camps start should be great entertainment
