BRF is a baseball purist. No DH. Pitchers were also the best hitters when growing up. Pick up the bat.

There's things I don't like about the DH, but more things I hate about having pitcher's bat/ run the bases.

I'm not going to answer, but I will say this..

People who say the DH takes strategy out of the game are dead wrong.

In the NL, the pitcher is usually an automatic out. Not so with the DH.. Pitchers and managers both have to have a good approach to how they handle the DH.

I think there are good arguments for each, and I reall don't know which I like better.

I dont like the DH. But it pains me to watch pitchers "hit". So Im inclined to say yes. I just wish there was a way to do it differently.

It"s just another athlete up there trying to entertain me with his skills.

Doesn't matter either way.

Pitchers should man the fuck up and carry their weight with the stick. But since that is obviously never gonna happen (christ, starting pitching has been pussified so much in the last couple decades that we need "middle relievers", before the real relievers???), might as well sit their candy asses down and make the AB a little entertaining. I would like to see a rule created that forces the DH to hit in the 9 spot, where the pitcher would otherwise be.

I dont like the DH and your thought about making them bat #9 is something I hadnt thought about. Interesting concept.

I don't have an answer to this.....but I will say this:

In theory, pitchers should be the best hitters because they know what to expect in certain counts....but in reality pitchers spend no time working on their hitting and the result is pretty much an automatic out.

I think MLB gives us the best of both....aka American/National league and then inter-league play.

I really enjoy watching a pitchers dual that results in a 1-0 or 2-1 game....but I really enjoy lighting up the scoreboard and seeing the ball fly around and out of the ballpark, so I do like the DH in that sense.
