So a good record does not translate to a good team? UH, OK

And not every fan was predicting a horrible season. I wasn't.

Look at history books, buddy. Plenty of teams start out with a good record after 40 games, and then wind up close to last by October.

As reds fans, we know that feeling all to well.

I don't have to look at the history books. I've been around for a while and know good baseball when I see it. So what you're saying is...the Indians are not a good team. Their record doesn't mean anything, and they will end up in last place or close to it. If that's the case, you're wrong.

Reds know all about starting the season at or above .500 after 40 games and then having a bad season. last year they were 23-17 and did oK..here are some other years they were at or above 500 and finished bad.

2010 Reds 23-17 and finished 91-71
2009-Reds 21-19 (were 20-14) and finished 78-84

2006-Reds 23-17 (were 23-12) and finished 80-80 which isnt bad I guess
2004-REds 22-18 and finihsed 76-86
2003-Reds 21-19 and finished 69-93
2002-Reds 25-15 and finished 78-84
1998-Reds 20-20 and fiinshed 77-85
1991 Reds 20-20 and finished 74-88
1989 Reds 22-18 and finished 75-87
1984 reds 20-20 and finished 70-92

Hahahahaha

Whooooaaa...little testy today, Indians fan? For fuck sake, I'm not saying any of that....I'm simply saying i'm not ready to crown them a good team just because they had a good start to the season. My point is that many teams start 25-17, then end up 74-88. So I'm just going off history, that it's way too early to call the Indians a contender. I'm not saying the Indians aren't playing good baseball, cuz they are....my point is can they sustain it? That is the true tell of a good team; not a 25-17 start.

By the way, royal, we don't really like to get in pissy fits on our reds' threads...we like to talk about, well, baseball. So whether or not you want to rebuttle and cry a little more, I am not going to bother reading/responding.

I'm not saying the Indians aren't good. I'm just not willing to say they'll be there in October yet. Calm down.

Wasn't crying...don't know where you got that from my post. I was simply arguing your point of being or not being a good baseball team. That's what people do on here. they discuss things and have opinions. I could care less whether or not you read anything I type.

BTW the record is 25-13

We are talking baseball.

Also, for the record, I predicted the Tribe would contend in the AL Central this year. I had a few people tell me I was being too hopeful, but I really felt this team had the talent to do so.

But I don't think anyone said they weren't any good. Just don't know if they will be there in the end.

By baseball I mean Cincinnati Reds baseball...as in, not the tribe.

Can we go back to when the Indians weren't playing well? If I have to go the rest of the season with Reds threads getting turned into this shit...I'm gonna blow something up.

Still a long ways to go and they haven't won 76 games yet so hold off, 6 1/2 weeks don't make a season and just remember the many years of hot Indians and the " June swoon" that has followed.

i'll quit with the Indians fans (even though i didn't really do anything other than say it's only 40 games in)...we get great convo about reds games on this board; can't let that turn into trollville.

I expect at least 8 K's from the Reds. Also, incase not everyone follows Fay on Twitter, here is a link to Dusty talkin' about Gomes.

Two stats that show why the Reds are winning:

The starters are 8-0 with a 2.20 ERA over the last 12 games.

Drew Stubbs numbers in May: .327/.431/.509

Damn, a decent throw by Ramon ends the inning.
