If Brookfield loses to Niles this week do they still have a shot at getting in at 9-1 i know their SOS isnt very good.

[INDENT]At this point 2 teams ahead of #8 Orrville only have 6 wins total from their remaining 5 games, Canton Central ( 1,2,1,0,2 wins)and Brookfield (3,1,0,1,1). Brookfield has 3 of those 6 wins for points Friday when they play 3-2 Niles so they must win to have a chance to stay up in the top 8! A loss and they could be 9-1 and on the bubble! Basically if Brookfield loses to Niles they will need help from other teams while the other teams in the region would still control their own destiny due to the wins from their opponents still available.

I honestly doubt that Brookfield loses to Niles but i was stating if they do which is a possibility but prolly wont happen.

Going through some projections, they should still get in. The region isn't as strong in points this year as in some past years. With that being said, you never know about a couple of upsets here or there that could change things.

This weeks games in the region feature only #1 Girard playing an opponent with a winning record in Niles at 4-2 and 25 points.

#2 Norwayne and #3 LaBrae play 0-6 teams this week and get only 4.5 pts with wins, in fact Norwaynes next 2 games are against 0-6 teams.

#4, 5, and 6 play teams with 2 or 3 wins and can get 15 to 17.5 points with wins. So this week it looks like teams will need help from their opponents to make moves in the rankings and a good possibility of moving up to 2 or 3 even if those 2 teams both win.

How do you see everything shaping up when its all said and done?

#4 Black River 3, 4, 6, 0 = 13( chance to move up in next 2 weeks with 2 & 3 playing winless teams )
#5 Orrville 2, 5, 3, 3 = 13
#6 Canton Central 2, 2, 0, 3 = 7
#7 Brookfield 1, 0, 2, 1 = 5 ( only 1 win in next 2 weeks & 5 wins in next 4 games will be challenged to stay in top 8 )
#8 Cleve.Central 1, 3, 1, 3 = 8
#9 Manchester 3, 0, 2, 4 = 9
#10 Beachwood 2, 6, 5, 5 = 18 ( has the best potential to move up with 18 wins out ahead of them )
#11 Garretsville 4, 3, 4, 0 = 11
#12 Streetsboro 1, 4, 5, 1 = 11
#13 Perry 3, 5, 3, 6 = 17 ( also strong schedule remaining with 17 )
#14 Hawken 3, 5, 1, 3 = 12
#15 Wickliffe 5, 3, 3, 4 = 15

# 6 thru # 9 almost definitely need to win out to have a chance and need some losses by teams below them to maintain their positions , but the 10 thu 15 teams have a lot of points on the table so it will be a very interesting 4 weeks in this region with 15 teams in the running for 8 spots.

Top 5 this week should finish in the top 8, 6 thru 9 can't lose anymore and the opponents points will be very important for them if they want to remain up. I haven't looked at all the possibilities and guess who wins which games yet. Brookfield is really going to need some help even at 9-1 with so few points on their table

So 4 teams have over 90 points available on their remaining schedules and have the biggest potential to move up by winning out. I am not saying it will happen and usually doesn't, but as you can see there is a good chance of teams moving ahead of teams that are only looking at 36 to 62 points from remaining opponents. Those teams will need some 2nd level point help down the road to maintain top 8 status.

Points available is just looking at the remaining opponent schedules and does not have any 2nd level guesses from already beaten foes.

Probable top 10 after week 7

1. Girard ( easily on top )
2. LaBrae ( 2nd level pts help )
3. Norwayne ( 2nd level no help this week )
4. Black River ( close for 5th )
5. Orrville ( 2nd level could move them to 4th very close to 4th, 1 win from Triway or Lexington could do it )
6. Canton Central ( maintains 6th )
7. Cleveland Central *
8. Manchester *
9. Brookfield * 7th, 8th, and 9th less than 2 actual points separation, so 2nd level upset could change all 3 spots )

Next 2 weeks weak schedule could see Norwayne drop to 5th after week 8 as Labrae, Black River , and Orrville opponents points would move all 3 past Norwayne on 1st level points, so now is when 2nd level points are very important for the contenders. Barring an upset in the next 3 weeks, Girard appears to be the top seed after week 10 with the LaBrae /Girard game in week 9 the key game for both teams and the region.

^^^ Wow. I know we have a lot of football to play and anything can happen, but Norwayne to the 5 seed and Orrville finishing at 4 and hosting the Bobcats???

...Red Rider Stadium would be the place to be that particular evening!

Norwayne could slip in these next 2 weeks , but the 2 big WCAL games will be very important, not just in league play but in regions 13 & 19.

I'm tempted to go to that Norwayne/Hillsdale game in week 10 since we don't play until the next night.

I'd imagine the Riders will have a real good sense of who they'll play going into the Wooster game, but it wont really matter as we'll be focused on our 7th straight win over Big Woo.
