It's almost always the way 5knots explained it. In all my years of watching the playoffs, I don't recall any other bracketing recently.
Basically you jusst want to finish in the top 4 to get that 1at round home game and not have to travel like Van Wert came to Orrville for a 1st round game in 1985. Every time we go west on 30 towards Mansfield, I see that mile sign to Van Wert and am glad we played at home!

That's a good catch Rider1. Didn't catch that one. Manchester would still be at 6.875 to Cleveland CC's 6.83333. Cleveland would finish 9th instead of 10th. Still out of the playoffs though.

Really doesn't matter at this point because they have never started playoffs after week 4, and it would be interesting to know how many teams that are top 8 at mid season are still in the top 8 after week 10. Have to keep this weeks list and compare it later. I would guess 2 or 3 will not be top 8 at the end.

No question the standings could look drastically different come week 10. My real reason for posting was it has always bugged me that they use the current divisor for L1 points and the final divisor for L2 points. It puts a premium on L1 points, particularly at this point in the season, and as most know its second level points that are going to get you to the playoffs. Maybe it's a minor point but if they are posting standings at week 4 they might as well give the coaches and players a more realistic idea of where they are in the standings in. I just think if they used the final divisor for both or the current divisor for both it would more accurately display the standings in my opinion. I'm assuming they use some kind of software to perform the calculations and it just doesn't factor that in during the season.

Just go back to the old way and give full value the whole way through the season. But then teams looked at the numbers like #1Girard would have 50 pts right now and #8 Cleve.Central would have 26 and say they are 24 pts behind and say they have no chance, but throw in divisors and partial pts and it seems so much closer. When the last game is played its simply add L1 to L2 and divide by 10 ( as long as a team and all opponents play 10 game) so the numbers appear to be smaller and closer and it appears as if you were only .8 pts behind instead of 8 pts. like 252 to 244 becomes 25.2 to 24.4 and seems closer and less discouraging.

Really wanna see the Norwayne-Orrville match-up...have a feeling it wouldn't be as close as people think. Orrville is a much faster team and will have faced wayy better competition than anyone on Norwayne's schedule

I personally dont want to go into that debate again. The last time that subject was brought up on here we had our freshman beating Norwayne before it was over. I Love the Riders but Norwayne has a very nice ball team also. I'm not going to bad moutht them on here. I've watched both teams play and Norwayne is certainly not slow. Both teams are very talented. We have a long way to go before that would become reality. Let's just hope they get to play each other to settle the debate. One more note to madman. Norwayne is ranked 2nd in Region 13 and we are 5th. Their competition must be doing ok.

Rebracketing doesn't occur until the state semifinals....never within a region.

I think it's most likely that both Orrville and Norwayne finish in the top 4...meaning the earliest they'd meet would be week 12.

Question of the day: Do they move this game out of Wayne Co. in order to accomodate a bigger crowd? Starting in week 13 (regional finals), all games are mandated to be played on turf....ruling out the one Wayne co. location that could host this game (Wooster's Follis Field).

If these teams are lucky enough to meet for the regional championship, OHSAA rules will force this game out of the county...to a spot like Medina or possibly Ashland.

The College of Wooster now has a turf field , but seats are all on 1 side , maybe 4,500 seats.

A site has to apply to host games, and I dont know that they have an interest in that.....and I certainly don't want a playoff game with all seats on one side.

Parking stinks and no visitor seats are too much to overcome, IMO. Not a viable site.

I like Medina much better than CCC. University of Akron is a possibility. I think I will let the next 6 weeks sink in before I talk about Norwayne anymore...so many games to be played!

Why wouldn't Brookfield be at "home"? Do they not have a home field? Or is it shared? By the way, all DIV playoff games are on Saturdays this year.

I would assume they would play it in Brookfield. I know it's a small stadium, but many other small stadiums have hosted first round games.

Real small stadium with not great parking i just wasn't sure thanks for clearing it up guys

I am gonna guess the top 6 all will win, the 7th thru 11th are playing the most interesting matchups with the most points available to them if they win, so it will be another great Friday night for football and hopefully the weather will be nice all around.
