I see. sometimes ya gotta give credit to the other team. There are a number of doubles that are earned by the batter on his first few steps out of the box. I have seen BP do this before on a ball hit slightly into th gap when he was ballsout from the start.

999 out of 1000 times that ball most likely is a single and stubbie knows it and probably made the safe play to keep it in front as most times they wont try for 2

This game needs to be over by 11:30 Hawaii time!! A whole squadron of f-18's are coming in today. The fighters turn right over top the house. It's pretty sweet. Won't be as good as the f-22's but still sweet.

I thought Cordero was the closer! Why do you bring him in to a tie game in the 9th on the road? Does that mean if the Reds take the lead in the 10th you are going to have him pitch a 2nd inning? Or is it that with the day off tomorrow, he needs the work so much to be sharp that some one else may get to close?

Oops Marty blew it saying that Cordero was coming in when they went to break after the top of the 9th! Guess it will be Leake to win and Cordero to close, if it works out!

I hate when umps fuck up calls..but I hate even more when they fuck up on a 1-1 count. As a pitcher, you are much more effective in an at-bat when it's 1-2 than when it's 2-1

Stubbs got his pocket picked....even with the mini-bobble....NO way does Pence get to 2nd base. Pence was extra on the offensive and Stubbs was nonchalant on the defensive.

With 2 outs and a fast runner Stubbs has to want to keep that guy off of 2nd as much as Pence wanted to get to 2nd.

The second after Stubbs fielded the ball is the proof it was nonchalant.

Everyone once in awhile Cordero comes in the 9th of a tied game. Not totally unheard of. I think sometimes it comes down to when they may get him ready. Maybe he started to get ready late in the 8th inning in case they took the lead and DB decided to run him out there while he was warmed up instead of sitting him down

Full count is bad to give that runner a jump, but didn't that ball stay in play because it hit the fair pole, which should be out of play and a ground rule double? Every runner who scored today for the Astros reached on a walk!

Mike Leake's career is slowly taking on water. It appears he isn't ready, or capable, or being a starting pitcher at this level yet (evidenced by the fact that he's probably the 7th or 8th best SP on the Reds). He's young, has options, but has never pitched in the minors. Having him come in the 9th inning to preserve a tie game is NOT suitable to his style or stuff. He can't continue to be in this role. The organization needs to send him down to start at Louisville and make a decision on him later if they have a rotation spot open.

Arrendondo is going to be ready soon. Out goes Mike Leake, hopefully. Arrendondo would've been perfect for this role today to come in during that spot.

The hop was higher than the wall. In order for it to stay in the park it seems to me it had to hit the pole or something else that would have been out of play also.

Ryan Wagner. Difference was Wagner was conceivably ready to be a reliever, and it's much easier to come up in a relief role as a major league. I'm not giving up on Leake but after last year people talked about him like the Reds had a future starter spot penciled in for the next 10-15 years, kind of like another Arroyo, and clearly, he's NOT at that level yet.

The good news is, he's got options and the Reds have good starters. On most teams, a guy like him would continually be run out every 5 days for a few years because of last year's success. The truth is, after mid-July last year, he got rocked, was then shut down due to "arm fatigue" and he hasn't been good this year at all.

I understand the difference....I am just saying in terms of a guy who blasted onto the scene with little (wagner) to no (leake) ML experience and then tank. I am not saying Leake is gonna tank...but someone said his career is started to slide and I just expounded on that thought
