Through 3 innings: The Tribe has grounded out 5 times, SO 3 times and been picked off. Can they get the ball in the air against Shields today?

What? No. It was Masterson getting drilled for the whole 2nd inning. Choo had a ball hit to him (with 2 on), and the ball got over his head cause he took a step or 2 in, but it was a laser...im not sure he wouldve caught it anyway.

Could really use a big fly from Pronk here.

There's a fly ball. Druby goes yard to lead off the 6th followed by a Choo single

With-in 3 runs at least they are back within striking distance.

Shields at 89 pitches after 6 innings. We will get our shot at the Rays Bullpen.

Choo is just lost. Some atrocious swings recently.

Santana is 10 for his last 30, and has put some very good swings on the ball.

For the season they are .221 and .225. BTW, the Tribe pen just blew any chance we had of a comeback. Oh well.

I realize that. But Im just talking about the last week. Choo has looked completely lost. He has taken about 5 half swings, and a few swings on fastballs where he lunges at it when its in the catchers glove after anticipating an offspeed pitch. Its been really bad.

You cant look at season averages anyway or your never going to be satisfied. Looking at smaller samples gives a much better perspective of how well someone is hitting. Santana was at like .195 last week. He has raised it to .220 in a week. That is good hitting.

Not here to gloat but the Indians are definitely a better team then I thought. I saw the record and thought they'd come back to earth. They might have some struggles as all teams do, but I think they will contend this year; especially with their persistence late in games. Despite Choo and Satanta struggling the rest of the guys are performing at a level where maintaining it isn't out of the question. Adding those two at their usual performance will give the Indians a scary offense.

I liked the ESPN article someone posted today. Good to see some youngsters mentioned from the CC/Cliff trades as the future of the pitching staff. Maybe the trades weren't so bad afterall. I mean, Kyle Drabek/Mat Gamel/Domonic Brown haven't become the can't miss guys that everyone was so upset the Indians missed out on.

No, they were still really bad trades.

As for today's game, Masterson was due to have a rough outing at some point. Can't expect a guy to deal every time out. Would love to see a sweep over the Ms this weekend.

meh, Drabek and Brown are already better than Donald, Carrasco, and Marson lol.

The CC Trade I think was good. We got Brantley and LaPorta, and even if they didnt pan out, it would be tough to fault them because they were so highly regarded. In the Phillies trade, if the guys dont pan out they deserve shit cause no one thought they would anyway!!!

As for contending this year. If we had gotten off to the fast start with offense, Id be skeptical. But we have done it with pitching, and that usually is a constant that doesnt go away. Thats why I am starting to believe a lot more, the pitching has gotten better with out supposed #2 going on the DL (though he is back).

I'd do the CC trade 10 times out of 10.

The Lee trade is still up in the air as far as what we got back. If Hagadone keeps up what he is doing this year, it will look a lot better. I realize the timing was bad, but the talent back is an unknown right now. And the CC trade is turning out to be a good one.

I don't get how the CC trade is turning out to be a good one at this point. We traded him in June, a month before the deadline, without making anyone up their antes. He was a Cy Young winner, and what have we got back?

Jackson was a bum, LaPorta hasn't even been average, and Bryson hasn't made the league yet and has injury history (although he's been very good when healthy, he's been injured as often as not).

Is Michael Brantley for CC a good trade at this point?

Phillies did deal Drabek for Halliday and even got Lee back, Hagadone was from Boston in the Victor trade, so neither deal is looking all that good right now.
