Within you're obscene profane outrage, you clearly miss the point of WHY this is news.
Osama Bin Laden, LEADER of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group, who was responsible for the terrible and tragic attack on our nation on that September 11th, is DEAD.
That is HUGE news, as it has been 10 years in the making. Does this mean our troops are coming home? Of course not, not yet at least. But what it does mean is that all the fighting to get Osama was not done in vein. WE ended him. All the soldiers who risked their life have now done so for a cause.
What it also means is that Al-Qaeda lost their most powerful figure. The guy who put this group together. The man who recruited the terrorists who performed this terrible act.
Oh, and let's not forget the victims of 9/11. It helps provide some closure to their lives, as well as their loved ones who have been waiting for this moment.
You think this is the just the media? Look at the live shots ACROSS the country. People are celebrating. Thousands of people are at various locations, including Ground Zero. Many of the policemen and firemen who were there on 9/11 are now there celebrating.
That's why this is such "big fucking news"...
Thank you. I mean obviously the major networks like Fox News, CNN etc., are not going to run a story on the death of every soldier, but local papers usually do.hoops23;756855 wrote:From our local Newspapers online edition:

It's impossible to have this type of breaking news each time a soldier is killed. Like I said, we all know the dangers of that line of duty and the sacrifices it entails.. But to expect every news outlet to stop what their doing because a soldier died, well, it's not realistic.
Look, Police rick their lives everyday as well. Our city just lost it's first officer to a murder while he was stopping the accused murder on a bike citation at 3 am. He was gunned down 3 times in the back and twice in the chest.
It was BIG time news here.
But, I don't expect other outlets across the country to pick it up...

Why can't there be breaking news when a soldiers dies.....When Pat Tillmen was killed it was breaking news...but I guess since he was a Pro Athlete it should have been breaking news right?
