For the same reason the deaths of individual soldiers during WWII did not receive national media attention and the death of Adolph Hitler received national media attention in 1945. It does not mean we as a nation have less value on our soldiers lives. What it means is that cutting of the head of the snake will bring an end to this shitty mess.

He was a soldier who was also a professional football player. Nobody said he was any better. He was just more famous. It is more newsworthy when a famous athlete, actor, musician, etc. dies than just a regular person. I really don't understand how you are struggling with this concept.

Complete bull shit. One man's paradise =/= another man's paradise. Tillman's forfeit of millions of NFL $$$$ is no bigger or smaller than your neighbor who forfeited his 60,000/year job, wife, 3 kids, and a 4 bedroom house.

Agreed 100% BUT it still is more newsworthy when it's a professional athlete.

Yes he is special. He's chose to enter the military, knowing full well that he could be giving his life for his country. Yet he still signs on the dotted line. As the husband of a lieutenant in the USAF, I take your statement very personal. Every soldier is special. They are doing something neither of us will ever know the feeling of.

He was a soldier who gave up millions to fight for his country. He was a symbol for the rest of the men and women in our military who risk/risked their lives in the line of duty.

Again, this is a victory by American forces over a major terrorist group who killed thousands of American citizens. That's why it's big news. Notice how none of the others who died are really being mentioned? Osama didn't go out alone.

$60,000 aint a couple million....sorry but you're more likely to drop $60,000 a year to join the military than you would $3,000,000 a year.

Are you a fucking idiot...I don't have a leg because I was in this fucking war....I don't have a brother because he was in this fucking war......His 3 kids now don't have a father because their dad gave his life...

I completely understand that. To ME though, it doesn't make it right. It made it seem like he was more special than the other troops that have died.

It does kind of look legit though.. You can kinda see brains spilled out on the left side of the head.

Who knows until a better quality image is released.

And yet you are degrading the soldiers. You're a real piece of work. You need some help, obviously.

Money and fame isn't anything. How many kids did Tillman have? Is that worth more than any sum of money?

Well it's just not feasible for the news to focus on every death. Just like Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy, got a lot of coverage while people die everyday. They aren't any more special, in fact many are pretty bad people, but they are more newsworthy deaths.

Nobody is saying Tillman is more special than any other person. We obviously feel the same way, but again, it's just more newsworthy when it's somebody "everybody" knows.

And FYI he in my post is referring to every soldier. Not pat Tillman. His story is awesome but is no more awesome then a 18 year old signing on to be in the military.
