You're asking the wrong person, but it has been reported and documented several times that he provided what was required. I remember reading/watching something regarding the Birther Bill in Arizona. One of the reasons the Governor shut it down was due to the fact that it was already a federal law in the Constitution.

Writerbuckeye;751932 wrote:Not really. All he had to do was release the damn thing a couple years ago when the issue first cropped up and we're not to this point.
For whatever reason, he chose to drag this out and cause the very distraction he then decries in his press conference. If he didn't want this to keep following him, all he had to do was release it when first asked. Obviously, it wasn't the huge legal hurdle he and his staff made it out to be.
Handling it this was shows a really immature, petty mind. Not the kind of character I want in a president.
I disagree. I think Obama handled this one correctly. It seems to me that the birther movement was largely pushed by conspiracy-theory types who were upset that someone other than an upper-class WASP was President. I don't think the President has an obligation to respond to every charge from fringe groups, as doing so only serves to legitimize them and encourage them further (see, e.g., Trump's press conference, where now he is insisting that Obama release his college and law school grades. Where does this end?). When the issue didn't go away, and he realized that more people started to believe it, he properly released the records, which should put this to rest.
While I disagree with many of Obama's policies, this whole birther nonsense needs to come to an end. From my perspective, people who continue to harp on it appear to be racist xenophobes who can't stand the thought that someone not like them was elected, and are now using the birther issue as a pretext for latent (blatant?) racism.
Seriously, the issue is dead; he handled it reasonably; people need to move on.

A lot of people, like me, believed he was born in the US but couldn't understand why he simply didn't release the certificate right away and end all the speculation as to WHY he would balk at doing so.
And he didn't handle it well. A leader doesn't act like a petulant child on something he can end in one day, and then turn around and decry how much time was wasted on this that could have been focused on other things. He had the power to end it quickly and chose not to; so he is decrying something HE alone perpetuated since nobody could release the document but him.
As for stuff related to his college years, I also see no reason why college records of someone who is running for president shouldn't have to be made public. We have a right to know about the backgrounds of the people we're voting for -- and a big part of the crucial time when Obama was developing his ideas and philosophies is blank for the same reasons he didn't simply release the birth certificate...nobody knows but him.
The man ran his campaign saying he would be the most transparent president in history and he has been the exact opposite from the moment he threw his hat in the ring.

So every politician should release their college transcripts? I don't see any reason why they should start doing this now.Writerbuckeye;752753 wrote:As for stuff related to his college years, I also see no reason why college records of someone who is running for president shouldn't have to be made public. It has far more to do with political beliefs than it does race. Bush and Cheney had unfounded conspiracy theories surrounding them as well. Last I checked Bush and Cheney were white guys. A lot of the "truthers" were to be found in the democrat party. Had Gore been elected the "truthers" would be found in the republican party. Both parties have there own set of loons.
I am sure there are some racists that make up the "birther" theory and that is their motivation. The main drive for the "birther" is they oppose the presidents politics. Anything that can district him from enacting his policies they are on board. Those of you seeing the big racist boogey man behind everthing anti-Obamo are nearly as loony as the "birther".

I would vote for any non celeb democratic candidate over Donald Trump. The thought of turning the election into some version of survivor/american idle disgusts me. I at least need the illusion that I am voting for a politician and not a reality tv show. I'm not sure there is an actual difference, but at least in my mind there is.

I'm sick of politicians. They pursue an agenda is based on getting re-elected and not what is best for the country.I at least need the illusion that I am voting for a politician and not a reality tv show

Why not?? Any information that helps voters understand a candidate is a good thing, IMO.So every politician should release their college transcripts? I don't see any reason why they should start doing this now.

Great post, writer. I would argue his presidency has been the LEAST transparent of my lifetime.
Along with major, I absolutely can't stand the word, "racist", being tossed around without penalty of retribution. To blindly call someone a "racist" for disagreeing with Obama is horrid. How does anyone know whom is a racist and whom isn't? Is there a test you can take? Is there a way you type that gives it away? Huh?? It is an intellectually vapid statement used by those that can't defend Barry's policies nor his actions without having to distinguish nor contemplate what he's doing to America. His presidency is an abomination and I could care less if he was purple.

I believe this is true, I always believed he was born in the US just questioned why the BC hadn't come out.
I also believe that there were definitely some racists among the "birthers" but most were just 100% against his politics and were apt to believe any "conspiracy" just like the 9/11 "truthers" and GWB. Were all of them racists against white people?

Your questions, while they may be important to you, would not help a voter understand if a candidate was a good candidate.Prescott;752878 wrote:Why not?? Any information that helps voters understand a candidate is a good thing, IMO.

I dunno. I'd expect a guy with a big dick to have the sort of self-confidence (ie: not "little man's syndrome") to be able to weather storms and get shit done, so that could be a valid thing that needs to be disclosed.
I mean, there's a reason Justin gave me mod powers and all.

So were "truthers" during the Bush presidency racist too?
Both the "birthers" and the "truthers" were fringe/cook groups that didn't like the sitting president so they were apt to believe a conspiracy.
Were those that were "truthers" about 9/11 racist against white people? If you say no, then you calling "birthers" racist is retarded.
And FYI, I have never believed in the "he was not born here" conspiracy.
