Dr. Chiyome Fukino, a former director of the Hawaii Department of Health and a Republican, told CNN in her most extensive comments to date that she has "no doubt" Obama was born in the state.

The president's certificate, she said, is stored in a vault in the building that houses the Department of Health. Ironically, unlike the certificate of live birth, it is no longer accepted for official usage.

Obama's certificate is "absolutely authentic," she said. "He was absolutely born here in the state of Hawaii."

If Trump and others keep pushing this....it will destroy the GOP

Just a thought, Ty:

I hear the State of Hawaii won't let just anyone see the birth certificates. OK, I understand privacy. The POTUS isn't just anyone...agreed?

What if (and I know you can't ever admit it will ever happen) a Republican wins the Presidency? What if said Republican goes to Hawaii and demands to see said certificate? What if they can't find it? What would happen to anything Obama signed while POTUS if it's determined he wasn't Constitutionally qualified to be POTUS? I'm not a birther, but the fact he won't do anything to prove himself only makes those that believe he's a Kenyan stronger.

What makes you think that The President (regardless of political affiliation) has any more rights to private documents than any other citizen? The laws of the land extend to everyone, including The President!

I just don't get why he didn't release it during his initial campaign when all this was brought up. This whole thing makes 0 sense.

Campaign tactic. Garnering sympathy. Can't really blame him for it.

I have never been a "birther" by any means, more of a "just show it already" type of guy. However, BHO DEFINITELY held it off for campaign reasons.

Can you elaborate?? What did he gain or what would he have lost had he produced it pre-election?

He gained "sympathy" votes from those who believed the "birthers" were retarded and/or racists.

If he came right out with it the whole "birther" crowd never really exists.

My guess: when only about 15 percent or so believed he was born outside the US, it was a help politically because probably most of those were hard-core conservatives. When polls showed 38 percent questioning whether he was born in the US, it became a political liability.

I posted earlier I thought he was born in the US, but wondered if there was something else on the certificate he didn't want released. Obviously, I was wrong and he was just playing silly games. More proof to me that he's really not presidential "material" when it comes down to it.

Reading Is Fundamental, Mr. Dogg. Re-read my last sentence.

As many others have stated on here, the whole situation of how this was handled by him is perplexing. The fact he let it mushroom to its current state of affairs is disturbing. I think he enjoyed the sideshow, but since it was becoming a daily nuisance instead of a weekly one, he actually had to do something to end it. I'm glad it's over so now we can get to more important matters, like the IMF report, the tsunami of debt, and why he won't allow drilling for oil in the Arctic.

Of course Obama was using this as a political tool. He waited until The Donald wrapped his arms completely around this issue and then he shot him down. Now Trump has nothing to get exposure with, other than demanding to see Obama's college transcripts. He will soon fade away, probably after the season finale of The Celebrity Apprentice when he announces that he won't run for President.

There's always next season...

Ha. You are kidding right? President Obama gave Trump just enough rope to hang himself. Watch how fast the GOP distances itself from the Donald now. IMO Trump was roasting Obama over this issue because he (Trump) has nothing of value to add in any discussions involving the more pertinent issues involving US or World causes.

I thought The President was a better politician than that. If he's focusing on Donald Trump his efforts are in the wrong area. In fact, it would be in the best interest of the President that the Republican party jumped on the Trump band wagon because he won't be elected.

Can you explain how or when anyone in the GOP embraced Trump? Sure he had a forum on conservative talk shows, but most of the "establishment" GOP'ers have been mocking him.

Of course it's my opinion. Whose else would it be?

Trump doesn't need someone else's help to look like a buffoon. He is a buffoon and I'm confident the President knows that people are aware of that. The President is crazy if he's worried about what a buffoon is saying that has no chance of being a legitimate candidate.

Not kidding at all. This has been issue for more than two years. All Barry had to do was release the document that was released today and there would never have been a "Birther" issue.Suddenly, when Trump starts spouting off, the 'Birther" issue became a distraction that had to be dealt with so Barry could concentrate on the important issues. Right!!!

Do you really think that Donald Trump did not know that Barry was born in Hawaii??

I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong -- unlike some on here.

All of you having fun and gloating about how Obama made Trump look foolish have it backwards. Any president that stoops to this level has clearly shown his ass for all the world to see.
