Belly's racist/prejudice ass should take notes. Actions of a few don't reflect a whole religion!

umm yes they are, you can't decide who is/isn't religious...they attend church, believe in the same god, and essentially just believe what you guys do(for the most part) in a very extreme way

That you don't get that this has nothing to do with religion pretty much sums up how stupid/ignorant/dipshit you are.

Yes, I can determine that they are not part of a Christian religion...based upon their actions.

They may think that their interpretation is Christian, but they are in no way following the teachings or life of Jesus Christ.

But you also understand that they call everybody (not like them) fags?

It's not just a gay issue.

Problem is, this translates to every worldview with respect to its belief regarding theism/nontheism.

As we established, there are idiots in all camps (remember? :D). Judging a whole based on an extreme part is incredibly short-sighted, I think.

What an unkind thing to say. Agree or disagree, that might challenge for the most malevolent post on this thread.

Again, this doesn't stop with just people who believe in the nonphysical (an element of what you would call religion). There are MANY non-theists who fit into this camp as well. Does that mean that religion is retarded, and that a lack of religion is also retarded?

If papers would stop reporting on this group and quit giving them tons of free publicity, they'd go away.

why do you guys base your views on a book written thousands of years ago? Why is "gayness" banned? That's my problem with religion, their views are so old and outdated

count me in on this guys. If we're not at the conference tourney, I'll be awake in the morning in the parking lot across from whatever corner they're on blasting hours and hours of Clay Aiken, Freddie Mercury, Boy George, George Michael, and the like. Could be good quality entertainment.

DeyDurkie5 - Jesus NEVER claimed to hate anyone. Jesus NEVER even discussed homo-sexuality. The apostle Paul and others throughout the Bible did. All the Jesus I believe in and follow taught was to love one another and pray for each other.

In the same breathe, I will say that I do agree that the Bible teaches homo-sexuality is a sin, but it is NO different from any other sin you or I commit or deal with.

Finally - why do people believe in a book thousands of years old? For the same reason many believe in books that teach other things that are just as out dated. The book may be old, but HE still changes lives.

Everything that they teach and preach is a perverted distortion of the Bible and it sickens me to my very core. The message of Christianity is one of love and the message they are teaching is one of hate, pure and simple.

The one thing that the WBC does well is make sure that they are withing the confines of the law whenever they protest. As much as they seem to hate America, they make sure that what they are doing is technically legal so that can keep doing it, and while their protests often get heated, they rarely get violent.

I'm curious as to what exactly they are protesting about at Darby. On their website they give specific reasons why they are picketing at other locations, but the Darby the description is very general.

Picketing against them won't do any good, it is just playing into their hands. I'm hoping to get some people together and instead of picketing against WBC we would picket for the students, staff, faculty, and families of HDHS. We would be sure to share the truth that God loves them and that he wants to forgive them, and that the message of hate and damnation WBC is spewing is lies. I think this is the most effective way to deal with them.

This is my view 100% word for word. I've never heard anything like what they say in my Baptist Church.

I don't think I claimed he hated them, I just said he teaches that it is wrong...There is nothing wrong with being gay, but yet you base your view of gayness on a book dated 2000 years ago so you think it is wrong or a "sin"...If you are born bald, isn't that a defect such as being gay that god should hate you for based on your logic? that's what I find troubling, do you believe women shouldn't have jobs because they are inferior just because some books use to teach that? No, they have become outdated because obviously that is a retarded viewpoint. keep thinking inside the box

There's an enormous difference between thoughts and actions. For example, it is illegal to fire someone from their job for being an alcoholic or a drug addict. However, it is perfectly legal to fire them if they show up for work intoxicated or under the influence.

It's legal to fantasize about shooting up an office building, and in violation of several sections of the law to actually do so. It's legal to fantasize about randomly punching someone in the back of the head, and a crime to do it. It's legal to pleasure yourself while fantasizing about your preteen child, and a crime to do so.

The problem here is that I don't believe for a second that you've actually read any religious texts or anything theological in nature. Everyone outside of agnostics ascribes to a religion of some type; every religion makes an empirical statement on the existence and nature of a deity (or multiple deities). Religion is about a quest for truth, and I believe that it's impossible to truly say "This is what I believe" without actually having explored that avenue. And without having done that, it's awfully difficult to make definitive statements about what is right or wrong.

It's funny that when the exacty statements you just made are used when speaking of Islam, people deny it. (not saying you do wkfan, just using your statements as a comparison)
