When was the last time Nick Saban smiled? 1982?

You don't pack it in on a 10 point lead if they have any timeouts.
Bama could have easily fumbled the ball on a hand off exchange. That scenario can happen either way. No need for them to score in that situation.
Agree, but at least that way they fucked it up actually playing football.

Yep, he would have looked a ton better running around out there with an arm flopping around and fumbling all the snaps.
I'm not saying that, man. I'm not questioning the kid's toughness nor his honesty. In fact, I think he may be honest to a fault in that case. What he said could scare some teams away or at the very least have them questioning his health come combine/draft time.

They are more likely to fumble it running the ball than they are taking a knee.

Dude...apparently you can't add either. You kneel on the ball 3 times when the ball was first and goal at the 5 with 1 minute left. Texas had only one TO. He ran up the score....plain and simple. Saban is a dick for doing so.

I can't stand poor sportsmanship.

For as much as you all hate on Tressel for overly conservative calls in situations that make no fucking sense, it's amazing how you all pull a 180 when it's someone else's team.

Either way, it's not worth arguing any more. I can't fix stupid.

The kid cost his team a National Championship by not going back in the game.

Texas probably wouldn't have even called a timeout. They knew the situation and were ready to shake hands.

That was easily a situation you don't score again. Class 101.
Is that why they came out throwing on their next possession?

It was pretty fucking funny to see Saban get drilled in the face with the Gatorade cooler

Do it and report back. If he can't lift his arm or doesn't have much feeling, how the hell is he going to take a snap?

I don't know how many times it has to be said, but...

HE WANTED TO GO BACK IN!!!

The team doctors, Mack Brown, and his Dad wouldn't allow him to go back into the game.

Besides, I don't think he would have been too helpful if he couldn't feel his throwing arm.

No you are just not being logical. Three knees=game over. Running the ball greatly increases the chance of a turnover. I remember Anthony Thomas fumbling it against Northwestern and cost them a game. Ron Dayne did the same thing. The Giants are famous for fumbling the ball when they could have just taken a knee.

Not sure what Saban was thinking...he's obviously wired differently than those of us who can smile.......but 20 years down the raod....or even 10 people look back and see the 37-21 victory......Colt McCoy wouldn't have made that much of a difference.

It was stupid, uncalled for and nothing you want young players or future coaches to see.

Texas came out throwing because they felt disrespected after Alabama scored a classless touchdown.

The fans boo'd. Mack Brown inside was probably saying "you SOB" and then Texas had the urge to try and score again.

When it was 31-21 and 47 seconds left, both coaches should've been thinking it's been a good, well-respected game and it ends here. Mack Brown was thinking that way. Saban should have been, too.

It was fitting to see them miss the extra point though.

I remember Pat White playing Pitt to play for a national championship and he didn't go back in the game until late in the game with a sore thumb, so I don't really buy that statement about Pat White. Not trying to be contradictory, just sayin'. :)

It was a bit different.

WVU was going against a 5-7 awful Pitt team and it was not really necessary to play Pat. We, along with everyone else, assumed Dick Rod could handle the play calling to beat Pitt. We were all wrong. Resting him for the national championship seemed like the smart move.

I remember at least 10 games where he was limping around. He single handedly won the Car Care bowl for WVU despite being injured most of the game. I think it was rare for him to play without an injury.

how much did you have riding on Texas tonight? if you need money for groceries until payday, maybe you could try a nicer approach and ask for donations.

Texas 51 Kansas 20
4th-and-9 from the Kansas 13, 2:20 to go, Mack Brown goes for it
Texas 47 Baylor 14
5:18 left, Texas passes on 2 of 3 downs before punting
Texas 41 Missouri 7
4th-and-4, 0:32 left from the Missouri 27, Mack Brown goes for it

You could take a look at how many times Mack Brown kneeled the ball in the 4th quarter this season. Or how many passes he called in the 4th quarter of blowouts. I'm pretty sure he knows it is a 60-minute game and wasn't pissed off about playing the whole thing out.

Is it poor sportsmanship to do what the opponent would rather you do? I'm sure that the Texas team would have rather had them try to run it for a TD, rather than be helpless with them taking a couple knees. That way they would have a chance to knock the ball loose and return it, rather than be helpless with taking knees. I would call it more of a poor strategical decision by Saban than poor sportsmanship!

Has Pat White woke up from last Sunday yet ? I'm 200 miles away, and if my windows were open I would have heard that hit.
