No question about this, but calling Reliant a dome is a disservice - it is damn near an aircraft hanger. The greed of the NCAA in piling in as many bodies into the stadium is having an adverse effect on the game. It wasn't meant to be played with such terrible player sightlines. Not apologizing for the lousy play, but basketball should be played in basketball arenas, not manmade caverns.

Who ever loses this game is going to feel absolutely dreadful inside. In many ways there is some pride in giving your all and coming up short. Giving your all, and playing your worst possible game will be tough to bounce back from. If this score holds I would think Butler will really look back at a this and wonder what would have happened if they would have played even half as bad as they are now.

NCAA last played in a basketball arena in 1995 when Kentucky played at the meadowlands. From that point on the NCAA has done nothing but milk the cash cow. I had lower level seats for last years final four in Indy and can tell you it was miserable as a fan. Will never go again, because I found the viewing experience so dreadful. Can't imagine playing in these settings as a player.

Also the NCAA is going the way of the BCS with its locations for the final four.
Indy, Detroit, Jerry Dome, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta. You can pretty much book it at these locations for a while.

No this is just as good as a Central Catholic League game and I would pay big money to watch Hartley vs Watterson.

Butler's 8 for 600 effort is clearly the result of Lamb, the Worm and Spider.

Lol at me. While I stand by my contention that the earlier portion of this game was impacted by strong, in-your-face defense, this has become a joke. Stephen Hawking could roll onto the court on his Travel Pal and make more points. Pathetic.

That is what Mack said. UCONN closed on the shooters better than any team he has played.

They were wide open a lot of the time. he must not play very good defensive players.

I hate when people use players or coaches' quotes as facts. Obviously they are going to credit the other team and usually exaggerate that credit to take the blame off them. Butler was missing wide open shots..it wasn't UCONN's defense.

He probably doesn't. The Horizon doesn't have athletes like UCONN has.

UCONN'S athleticism and length was more evident in the paint. After they blocked a few shots, Butler's frontcourt was totally intimidated and missed shots they would normally make.

If Oriaki had not gotten in foul trouble UCONN would have won by 20.

Re-read my post. I agree with him (half-way). I think the first half was really played well defensively, which resulted in below par offense for both sides. In the second half, however, Butler couldn't have shot a hippopotamus from point-blank range.
