Lonesome Blues

Written by Leroy Powell. Performed by Shooter Jennings.

Radio country sucks.

Too many to think of in the last 10 years....off the top of my head:

If I Die Young...It's relatively new, but I thought this song was genius.

Fast Cars and Freedom and What Hurts The Most

And even though they have been blacklisted, I like a lot of Dixie Chick songs...pretty much the whole Fly album

My Town

Suds In The Bucket

Little Past Little Rock

As well as some previously mentioned songs

While I would really consider them more pop, I love Kimberly Perry's voice

The lyrics to that song are awesome...who would even think of writing a song like that??

Too bad they are new on the scene...if that song would have come out to an established act it would have been #1 for months.

Man do we need Outlaw Country to make a comeback. Some of the first pop/country was ok with Shania, Garth, some Tim McGraw and others, but they still had a distinctly country sound. A lot of what is being call country/pop these days is really mostly pop, and crap.

With a name like Leroy, it's gotta be good! Hmmm... I wonder if there's a Leroy White?

I'm telling ya, there isn't a better musician out there than Mr. Powell. His guitar skills are absurd.

Tumblin' Down is probably #2 on my list though it is from his last album which is pretty heavy and not necessarily country. The second song in this video is also worth a listen and is definitely country.

Had the pleasure of meeting him at a shady bar in Columbus before one of his shows. A really nice guy as well. Steel Valley can attest to that.

Kind of surprised nobody had "Fool-Hearted Memory" on their list of George Strait songs.

Definitely. But, wow, is that shaved look old or new? It doesn't even look like him. Well, rather, I've never seen his actual face before.

The Lonesome Blues video is a couple years old but he usually has the big beard.

The Lobster Beard is what I call it. LOL.

As far as the question at hand, I'd have to say Southside of Heaven by Ryan Bingham and it's not even close for me....then again I'm not a radio DJ.

Let me try to imbed this...never tried before.

Great choice. Better than every song mentioned so far, outside of the two I listed. :)

If by "outside of" you mean "including and especially those two" then I fully agree... :)
