The next iPhone will not be able to go cross carrier. Verizon uses LTE for data only. The radio for voice calls will still go over CDMA. That's why Verizon can now say they can do voice/data at the same time. So if the new iPhone is LTE, they will still have to put a CDMA chip in it to work for voice calls on Verizon's network.

The Qualcomm chip used in the VZW iphone 4 has the ability to work on both CDMA networks and GSM (AT&T's band at least). I would bet they would continue this in the future but it will be locked to whatever carrier plus the vzw iphone won't have a sim card until a LTE version is released. Having the same chip in the phone between the GSM and CDMA version would cut cost for design and manufacturing. The current chip used in the AT&T iphone only can access the AT&T GSM bands in the US.

On a side note, the Thunderbolt can do voice and data over 3g.

I just read this whole thread and am irritated. It basically boils down to this:

If you're technologically useless, and unable to quickly adapt to technology quickly: Apple product
If you are a geek and quickly pick up on things/tweak them to your liking: Non-Apple product

However, it really infuriates me to read things like "I ditched my Android phone because iPhone messaging is way better" like someone already mentioned. Did you try one of the 3 or 4 messaging applications that are FREE in the Android Market? They run laps around the iPhone stock one (which you can't change). You can even set them up to mimic the iPhone app.

Working in tech support, I can assure you that most of the most technologically useless people are those that use Macs. Half of them can't even figure out how to change their stock starry/space wallpaper. It's sickening. Apple is laughing their way to the bank off of these people.

I have a Rooted Android Device(Galaxy S) and you can pretty much do anything you want to make it to your liking. A great site to go to is the XDA developers site if you are into that sort of stuff. Even you iphone users can go there.

One quick point, there are users who have been able to successfully use the Netflix app on android. I have the app uploaded into my phone but it will not steam so I am still trying to work on that.

I typically don't prepare my veggies on my phone.

Sorry, didn't know, I'm too stupid with computers to figure that out.
