Not sure I like this deal for Cavs. Hickson is younger, bigger and has a higher PER. Became a major rebounder in 2nd half of season.

Lol major rebounder...

The cavs, IMO, have to completely rid themselves of anyone attached to lbj before they can completely move on.

That's what I've been saying. Boobie & Varejao would be next but I don't see them dumping AV anytime soon.

Oh, I don't doubt there's a market for AV but he's about the only legit guy they have right now that can play center, even if he is undersized for the position.

Don't know anything about this dude. With the drafting of Thompson it made sense to ship off Hickson and the Cavs bring in a position of need. The draft pick is nice, although it may not be the Cavs pick for two more years.

Guess it shows there wasn't a huge market for Hickson, as the player from Sacramento was completely expendable after they picked up Jimmer.

Would've been nice if the Cavs could've held out for a less protected 1st rounder but I have a feeling with the CBA ending they wanted to get this deal in before the deadline.

The only part I don't like was that in LeBron's last year reports were saying that the Cavs not wanting to give up Hickson was what stopped a few big trades from taking place. I forget who the players were specifically but the Cavs did not want to give up Hickson.

For this team now though, I like the trade.

Just saw where the Hickson/Amare thing was more fable than fact.

Steve Kerr, Phoenix's GM at the time, said he never once considered trading Amare for JJ.

I think it was more that the Kings have Donte Greene and Fransisco Garcia. Not sure why Jimmer as PG would make Casspi a SF expendable.

Edit: I just looked at this and stat wise I'm not sure why Sac gave up Casspi. Garcia posts comparable stats to Casspi but is 6 years older. And Greene only averaged 5 ppg.

I have seen the lottery protection as follows:
Top 14 protected in 2012
Top 13 protected in 2013
Top 12 protected in 2014
Top 10 protected in 2015-2017
IF the pick is not conveyed to the Cavs by 2017, the Cavs receive the Kings 2nd round pick in 2017.

Oh, and Omri Casspi is supposedly dating Bar Refaeli

You don't say! You mean Ferry was a complete moron and didn't hold up trading for one of the top 20 players in the NBA because he didn't want to part with JJ Hickson????

Casspi is a talented player, he will start at the 3 for Cleveland next year.

Didn't mean Jimmer as a direct replacement but more as another scoring guard.

I love the trade. I just wished it wasn't lottery protected as next years draft is loaded.

WKNR had a guy from SAC who covers the Kings on this afternoon and he had a lot of good things to say about Casspi. Said he plays every play like it's his last (high motor) and is very confident. Said he "sometimes thinks he's better than he really is." That he (Casspi) feels like he could start/contribute on any team in the NBA. Also said he has a "mean streak." On the negative he said that he wasn't a good defender....not a sieve but still not a good defender.

I'm sad to see JJ go but I like the trade. I thought the kid showed alot of promise, I would have liked to see him stick around a little bit longer.

This was probably a move that had to be made, from everything that I have read it sounds like JJ wants to get paid and get paid BIG. Cavs werent going to offer JJ the type of money that he is after. Hopefully the Kings have a solid year and that pick is just outside the top 14

Cavs might not be done. Maybe they're worried about the TPE going to waste

Closest thing to good news heard today: Cavs still very open to making another trade before midnight using their $14.6M trade exception half a minute ago via TweetDeck

No deal imminent at last report but CLE preference is using it now since no one knows if such exceptions will even exist in next labor pact

CLE exception expires July 11 under current CBA. But we'll be in midst of lockout then, so Cavs motivated to keep looking for deals tonight

I think Hickson is the better player, but with the Thompson pick he became expendable. The article I read earlier said that he was also clashing with Scott from time to time.

Not a bad trade for Cleveland. Casspi isn't terrible, and he'll probably start right away. And obviously the Cavs needed to deal a big man. Getting a 1st rounder is good for them too.

However, Grant is a complete boob if he lets that trade exception slip away without using it. DO SOMETHING

I really think the league will give the cavs an extension if they dont use the TPE

That be nice. I would rather sit on it than watch Grant make any dumb trades. Sounds like the Cavs are looking for bad contracts and 2012 picks
