Ok, back to D4 Region 14...sorry..
I have not watched Kenton a whole lot but try to get to 2 games every year and I have to say, Maty and the offense Kenton runs, is the most exciting and fun offense I have ever watched. Kahuna, you hit the nail on the head saying it is like a video game. If the school I follow was not playing Saturday night, I would be in BG to catch this game for sure..
Good Luck to both teams and to an injury free game

Gtown thanks...I hope you are right. Getting a closer look at Kenton's defense I think Genoa can score. Nutter is a machine and he can grind out 4 to 5 yards a carry. His style of running can ware a defense down. Genoa doesn't need to trade TDs. Hopefully they can play a bend but not break defense against them. If they don't allow a big play Genoa has a chance. Now I am feeling better about the comets chances. You here about the QB but what are the sizes of Kenton's receivers? Do they throw deep or is it like a lot of slants and screens?

This is why I feel Hartley can knock Kenton off if they get by Eastwood this week. They have the ability to grind out first downs and wind the clock with the best of them. That is what they did with North Union for much of the game, only a few big plays for the Hawks all night. Not that the Hawks couldn't go blow for Blow for blow with Kenton, but they have proven many times this season how many different ways they can drive with the ball. Also, their defense put up a very nice goal line stand last week just before half time, holding them to a missed field goal...just some thoughtsbigkahuna;963212 wrote:That's the biggest thing. People come in thinking they'll just go blow for blow with Kenton. It just doesn't work that way. Honestly the last time I saw that happen somewhat successfully was back when Kenton and Huron had some epic battles a few years ago. The way to beat Kenton is to do what Genoa did last week vs. Huron. Long, successful drives and disciplined defense.

This insight, of course, only is pertinent if Kenton indeed wins against Genoa, we shall see on Saturday

Link to their roster
6- leagues best receiver 6' 160
9- 6' 180
11- 5' 10" 175
17- 6' 1" 170
24- 5' 10" 165
^^^5 starters
3- 6' 4" 215- Comes off the bench
Obviously they have to use a few more with running 5 wide virtually all game.

LOTS of screens but they will and do go deep too.buhrdog;963218 wrote:Gtown thanks...I hope you are right. Getting a closer look at Kenton's defense I think Genoa can score. So there is a fine line that has to be played.
DB's jam the WR's at the line to stop the screen and then they'll go deep.
Play soft, and they'll take screens all night long.
Kenton takes what you give them and they do a really, really good job of that.

I feel everybody is looking towards the Kenton Hartley matchup. Don't count out Eastwood or Genoa. Eastwood has a way to fight back when they are down. They did it against Clyde and they did against Genoa.Archibald 22;963238 wrote:This is why I feel Hartley can knock Kenton off if they get by Eastwood this week. Drew Pasteur has the lines for this weeks semifinals at...
#18 Kenton (11-0) by 14 (80%) vs Genoa Area (Genoa) (10-1)
#29 Bishop Hartley (Columbus) (10-0) by 6 (65%) vs Eastwood (Pemberville) (11-0)
These seem pretty reasonable I hope both of these are good games!

Thanks, but again...no stats, rosters etc. This is what I have been running into trying to find that info. I would find a promising site. but when looking further ML did not provide the info I guess....oh well. Thanks againbigkahuna;963216 wrote:http://www.ihigh.com/midwestathleticconference/index.html

No problem. themaconline.com used to be a really good site for stats and other school information. It's not such a good site now.

Yea...they appear to be what I would give. Now they just need to play the games. The Bishop Eastwood game is interesting. I know about Eastwood but what about Bishop. What do they run? What are their strengths and weaknesses?Archibald 22;963668 wrote:Drew Pasteur has the lines for this weeks semifinals at...

It appears to me that the two teams are very similar. They both pass very little, but Hartley can complete passes when they have to. Neither team is overwhelming in size, but both pride themselves on great effort and are very physical teams. Neither will quit, I promise you that. Whoever wins this game will have earned the win.buhrdog;964521 wrote:Yea...they appear to be what I would give. Now they just need to play the games. The Bishop Eastwood game is interesting. Kenton looks good....That offense is explosive. We might be going home this week. Comet nation is pulling for the Red Riders...It wouldn't be November if the Comets and the Red Riders don't play.5knots;964517 wrote:C'mon Comets!!!! Red Riders are pulling for you. Yep, we were thinking the same thing. Who knows....if the stars align just right.....could be another fun night. Best of luck...we both have a lot of work to do to make that even a possibility.

It really wouldn't be the same without an Orrville/Genoa playoff matchup! Best of luck to the comets and let's pray the stars align...each season our game is for something more....this year it could be the final four.

That would be nice. Drop Triway for a couple of years and do a home and home. It's about 120 miles one way, but for 2 years it would be epic.Orrvillefootball;968056 wrote:We gotta do a home and home with the Comets.
