Feel sorry for BYU. None of the players will take it to the hole now.

BYU is a joke. Hope the place burns to the ground.

Although you have to laugh at someone who willingly goes there.

No wonder they shoot so many jumpers. The Honor Code prevents them from penetrating.

The biggest joke of this whole situation is the idea that The Jimmer isn't fornicating with everything that's cute and not in clothes. Sorry, BYU codes, but The Jimmer Hammer has been teaching the facts of life since last March. In fact, while other teammates were at chapel, The Jimmer was probably inside another Latter Day Saint when he heard the news of Davies' dismissal.

Give me a fucking break. This beyond sucks for the remaining BYU team. From the looks of the current slapping the Cougars are taking at home tonight, this dismissal could be catastrophic.

I'm just wondering.......how the hell did the university find out? Did he run around campus with a megaphone announcing it to the world?

^ He probably just admitted to it...

I love Bill Simmons's tweet from last night: "When I was in college, I absolutely would have chosen sex over playing in the Final Four. Or, anything."

There were rumors yesterday that he got the girl pregnant... but I think that was just people speculating what happened.

I heard on Mike & Mike this morning that he had 'relations'.....got up in front of the team, confessed and apologized.

Catastrophic??? Hardly. There's more going on here than basketball. At the end of the day this may be the greatest lesson these kids might ever learn. It takes more courage to stand up and admit you broke a rule and pay the consequences than it does to take a ball to the hoop when you're talented.

I applaud the young man for owning his mistake.

If BYU lets him continue to play ball I would be shocked. Saddened by course of events, but it is BYU's scholarship, their rules, and he acknowledged them and proceeded. I know a secular world will look at this situation and wonder what the big deal is, but at BYU honor code is everything, and moral and physical purity are valued above any athletic achievement. Hopefully this young man will find a way to contribute positively and he can find a role within the program should reinstatement not occur.

I am willing to be that is true, and that she confessed the relationship which forced his acknowledgement of an honor code violation.

I thought the reason for dismal was that he broke a rule he had previously agreed to in writing contained in the Honor Code.

yes, the honor code at BYU mandates students not engage in premarital sex. Hence the honor code violation.

Why then would it be surprising or a "joke" that he was dismissed for violating something he agreed to?

Its not just the code. I'm pretty sure part of graduating is doing a 2 year mission trip. Imagine that...you fulfill obligations and promises and sacrifice what you want to do in life because you're keeping your word. Ridiculous that some would pass judgement and call names because they themselves don't have the fortitude to follow through with that level of self denial. If the kid broke the rules then he deserves the punishment, but in the end he'll be stronger for it.

That's the hope by me. As I stated earlier, it's bigger than basketball.

Rec was talking catastrophic for the team..which is what we as basketball fans care about..not "a young man learning a lesson"

Yep. I got that. I don't see it as being catastrophic for the team. It's potentially the greatest experience they'll take from being a part of that team.
