of course he will have pitched great. But I also think that because of him being bumped down he'll get an additional 3-4 wins in which he could give up 4 or 5 runs and still get a W because his offense pounds it out against someone's 3 4 or 5

Agree to disagree I guess. I don't see him being a #4 giving him 4 wins that would have been losses or NDs. I'd be curious to know what percentage of games a starter actually starts against the other teams pitcher in that same spot of the rotation.

No... I am not? He played in 95 games last year, was beat up, and struggled at the plate. Heck, Chipper himself casually mentioned retirement during last season. He's a shell of his former self and is quite injury prone. My thinking is that if he gets another injury that sets him back for an extended period of time, he will simply walk away.

He struggled out of the gate. After that comment he made about putting off retirement talk until after the season, he was on a 2 month streak where he was hitting about .320. And you did know that he tore his ACL, right? If he didn't walk away from an ACL tear I doubt any other injury is going to make him walk away this year as long as he is productive. Fredi has said he will be batting 3rd on opening day so someone seems to think he still has something in the tank.

Its probably not a great percentage, but still, being a #1 or #2 starter in most rotations is going to give you a decided advantage most times with the offense that they have going against most teams in the N.L's 3's and 4's

He's another year older. I don't care what kind of 2 month streak he had. He still around .260 that tells you how bad he was for the other part of the year. If he is good, then great! I'm not a Chipper hater or anything. Just giving my opinion.

He's old and his skills are diminished. If Fredi thinks hitting Chipper 3rd is best for his team, cool. He needs to talk with the graveyard of Reds managers first though. He will need to ask them how it worked out when they placed a decaying Griffey in the 3 hole because of who he "was"

NL division winners and wild card team stay the same. Not sure on the AL yet.

Why should he tell us that? I don't get it. Must be the Marietta education.

Cardinals made him an offer. I think it was 8 yrs 200 mill. I could be wrong about the terms though. Saw it on the bottom line earlier

The breaking news is that that offer actually wasn't made.

According to Jayson Stark on ESPN no deal was offered today and there's nothing "imminent" before tomorrow's noon deadline. Also reports of the players union turning up the heat on Pujols to milk the Cards are also false.

At this point Stark believes Pujols goes Free Agent in November

Oh, that's it. I often see the word "days" as "years," and often mistake a period for 5 zeros.

I agree with this. His run support will be slightly higher giving him a few more Ws.
