In a big game for AZ, Daniel Hudson had a text book case of "hitting the wall" at 100 pitches! On his 100th pitch he gets a K for his 26th out with no one on and and a shut-out working. Then on his 101st and 102nd pitches he gives up HRs to Laynce Nix and Jonny Gomes, exits the game, and Putz gets the last out on 2 pitches, to protect their MLW lead over the Giants.

I went to the game today. Sat through an hour and a half rain delay.

NY was getting rolled at first. Hughes got pulled in the third. It was 7-1 and still raining in the 4th so I said fuck it and left. They were company seats so I didn't mind. I left my coworker there and got home and checked the score.

I shouldn't have left. :(

Wow, hadn't noticed it, but Derek Jeter's batting average is up to .299 on the season after another 3 hit game today. I just saw a mini article on CNNsi about how he was hitting .250 before his DL stint, and has been at like .365 since the past 6 weeks.

He was pretty much left for dead earlier this season with talk of moving him down in the order and such. A pretty amazing turn around considering the year he had last year and that he is 37 now and these types of streaks don't happen with guys his age.

I'm glad to see it too. You hate to see great players go out with a fizzle. He is clearly a top 5 SS of all time, and he has a good chance to get to 3500 hits or so with his current contract.

He broke it off with Minka supposedly. Probably back to getting strange nightly without feeling guilty about it and his clear mind is helping him at the plate.

Phillies are trying so damn hard to blow this lead. Would not be surprised one bit if the Braves win the Division.

"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

This year's winner is Ian Kennedy(IMO). No clue this dude was 16-4. CY Young winner if the D-Backs make the playoffs?

Gotta love ESPN. After he won his 16th game, the anchor goes, "Kennedy moves to 16-4" then they go onto something else.

HE'S 16-4, YOU CAN'T GIVE HIM ANY MORE AIR TIME THEN THAT?!?!

He's in the mix....but will have to overwhelm stats of Halladay and Kimbrel has a chance as well.

Brian Cashman screwed that one up.

A few years ago it was Hughes/Chamberlin/Kennedy that were considered the 3 crown jewel pitching prospects of the Yankees organization, and Kennedy was the one that was exiled and considered most expendable.

Something tells me that they would kill to have that one back considering the shape their rotation is in currently.
