Jeter and Chipper Jones have no business on anything called an All-Star team. This isn't a lifetime achievement award. You don't get rewarded for what you did in 1998.

Asdrubal was rooked.

When the fans vote, big metro city players will be rewarded, especially legends like Jeter and Chipper.

There are 34 freaking players.....way too many but room for honorees like Chipper and Jeter. Wish they would do it every year.....sadly Jeter got voted it.

Sure, but that wasn't the case for Chipper. Players voted him in. I'm not sure who I would rather vote. The players are just as bad at this sort of thing. Few of them actually follow other teams throughout the season.

lol, look at the NL 3rd basemen and based off stats, why wouldn't Chipper be selected? No one is standing out at all.

Bryce Harper was promoted to AA and will make his debut tonight. Its expected he will play the remainder of the season there.

I really don't like the fans getting to vote the starters of the allstar game. It was ok when the game bared no weight on the world series. Now, you have guys that are not deserving determining who has home field advantage in the world series. My question is....has Bud Selig ever done anything correctly since he became commissioner?

Aramis Ramirez > Chipper Jones

Third base in the NL is horribly weak though.

Aramis Ramirez has a league leading .820 OPS for 3rd base, but has risen a good bit very recently and there is just no clear cut choice....Chase Headley and Ryan Roberts might be as deserving...but I like the choice of Chipper.

Does Roberts qualify at 3B? Hasn't he played like 6 positions already?

I do seem to remember him being complemented on something a year or three ago. Can't remember what, though...

I live 5 min. Away from Harrisburg. I can't wait to go see him play. Harrisburg has an amazing minor league stadium.

I said earlier that Ramirez would be the only other possibility. Cubs are 15 games under .500 and Castro was more deserving. They are only getting 1 AS matter what.

Watching the god awful Cubs/Nats game.

The Nationals have Matt Stairs and Pudge batting back to back....without thinking much those might be the two of the 4 position players to have played the longest ago in MLB. Vizquel came up in 1989.....the last 80's player. Thome in 1991?

Pudge came up in 1991 and Stairs in 1992.....for pitchers I know Arthur Rhodes came up in 1991 and Tim Wakefield in 1992.

Marquis could always rake. For a lot of his career, he hit better than he pitched :)

In his 21st season and over 2550 career games Pudge just picked up his 512th career walk....in comparison from 2002-2004 Barry Bonds had 572 walks in 520 games.

Strange seeing a pitcher PH to lead off an inning of a tie game.....before extra innings. He struck out looking.
