Watched some of the Grammy Awards last night and happened to catch her performance. What the hell is her appeal? She seems to rely oh her "shocking" stage presence and costumes. Her singing is nothing unique or special, I do not think she is all that talented especially after her screaming performance last night. Maybe, I am just getting old and just don't get it. But, I think she is nothing but a Madonna wannabe. What do all of you chatterer's think?

I don't mind her songs when they come on the radio (only on those stations when it's my wife's turn to pick) but I don't pay attention to her outside of that.

Don't love her but don't hate her either. Her newest song annoys me because it is a direct rip off of Madonna's Express Yourself. She is a bit hypocritical in saying she is an original, never copies anyone, etc. when she puts out a song like that. And all of her fans that are going nuts over this song bother me...sorry but it is not a revolutionary anthem that will change music and the world. I've actually heard some gays say they do not want this song/her representing them.

I do really like the first song I ever heard from her, "Just Dance".

1. Her goal is to get attention, and she is getting it as evidence of this thread.
2. She creates typical pop music.

She is the quintessential pop artist, creates pop music good enough to have millions of fans, but also create enough shock to draw more people to her.

I'm not a fan of her really, but give her props on her creativity and ideas for shock value.

IMO her videos are better than her music. Her music is catchy enough. I'm not a fan, but I don't hate her.

I tend to ignore the stuff considered pop music. None of it really appeals to me. Like, I'll look at Katy Perry's boobs all day, but I couldn't identify a single song by her.

This pretty well sums it up. I hate when people call her an original or call her music creative. There's nothing creative about it. Typical pop sounds with pop lyrics. Everything is catchy and repetitive. I also hate her saying thing like "this is who I really am" and "I'm not doing this for show, I'm just being true to myself." Well, she didn't dress like a crazy person before she started to become famous and her real name isn't Lady Gaga, so she absolutely is putting on a show. She may have some true musical talent underneath all of that production, but none of her music shows it and I don't think she's anymore talented than your typical vocal performance major in college.

Indifferent pretty much all the way around. Her only redeeming quality that I can tell is she's not stupid, so she's at least worth a look-in every once in awhile.

If you can't see the talent in Lady GaGa then I don't know what to tell you. The girl "gets it."

I'm not a fan, but I can't deny the talent and innovation that she possesses. She gets people to talk about her and is highly successful.

She differentiated herself and people bought in, so she plays off of that. Just genius from a marketing perspective.

She's bacially just copying what Madonna did 20 years ago, not genius at all. I can see how you'd be perplexed/confused by it though considering your knowledge of the NBA.

It is creative in that she writes her own music and lyrics. She isn't just a singer who gets handed something by a suit. Yes, it is pop music...there's a pretty good market for that.

I'm not sure I've ever seen/heard her downplay her theatrics. You can be yourself and be outrageous by expressing yourself without the normal inhibitions that most people have. She's pretty much a freak, has a weirdo imagination, and wants to express that in her dress, music, performance, etc. She also happens to know that her own creative energy and expressions (end product) doesn't just appeal to her, but through music and performance it appeals to a shit-ton of other people. So, of course she would consider the crowd that enables her to do what she does for a living.

It may not appeal to you personally and perhaps you have no appreciation for her artistic style. But it is what makes her different, or some would say, better than your standard pop "singer".

Count me a fan. I've always been a fan of good dance music and she has some of the best stuff out there today. I don't think you have to like to dance to like GaGa, but I'd bet most of the people who don't like her sit on their hands.

She is talented, but there's a fine line between being inspired by the like of Madonna, Mick Jagger, Elton John and ripping them off. As far as her costumes and personality, it seems much more planned/orchestrated than original. If that person is not you, then you go borrow and steal from others who are. And IMO, that's largely who she is, but it works because it is all new to most of her younger fans.

LOL-- you're funny. I meant that, IMO, she'll be an afterthought in a year or two--if I meant one hit wonder, I would have said it...frickin' bozo

I agree with this. I cannot wait until she's an afterthought either.

Same goes with prepubescent Bieber...

She's a modern day Cyndi Lauper. Lauper had a few good years, and so will Gaga. Then nothing.

I'm not impressed with Gaga, but I don't listen to her either, so what do I know?
