Campbell wins 49-45! Great job Devils, one more to go! Everyone was saying how Manchester was going to run through this tournament because they were 18-2, ranked in the top 10, etc. Well it's the Devils who are appearing in their 6th straight District Championship game, congratulations fellas!

Watching this Campbell team play throughout the season, I had my doubts about them reaching the district final. But here we are again. Coach D. always seems to get the most out of his kids when it counts most. Great job fellas.

Ursuline over Rootstown 61-45. Was just a 4pt game at half before the Irish blew it open in the 3rd quarter.

Go Irish!

Well I caught a little criticism many weeks ago because I thought Campbell would make it all the way back to the finals and here they are. What alot of people out there do not understand is all the adversity they played through this season. Their record is very very decieving.

They play a very good schedule year in and year out which helps any team heading into the tournament, at the same time they had a nice little run in football and because 5 of their top 8 were apart of the football team subsequently backing up the progression of the basketball program.

From that football team they also had alot of really good players who did decide not to come out this season after being with the program for several years, most notably John Sikora and arguably the best basketball player in that school and athlete in J'ales Hughes. For these reasons their depth has taken a hit. Adding to it there were several disciplinary suspensions that complicated matters even worse. Any ordinary team at that stage (4-9) would have probably packed it in.

These kids on the other hand pulled it together having won 8 of their last 10 and at the same time developing some younger players who are contributing and playing their roles nicely in A. Naze and C. Smith. Ursuline will be a tough task, D. Jenkins is an awesome talent, along with Khiree Gregory and Strollo, Campbell will have their hands full. It should be another exciting Campbell and Ursuline title game in what is becoming one of the better rivalries in the area.

Since Campbell made the move to the Salem District in 2006, the Red Devils have advanced to the District Finals each year. In Division III, the red devils have tied Cleveland Villa Angela-St Josephs in advancing consecutively to the District championship game six years in a row.

That's amazing. I am looking forward to the Campbell-Ursuline game tomorrow night, if it is played then. By the looks of the weather map, Friday could be very, very messy.

I'm not sure which protocol would apply. But from my perspective, if we get as much snow as predicted, this game and many other events will be pushed back to Saturday. My suggestion is to listen to the radio and read the forum for updates during the day on Friday.

Snow melted on most roads in the Valley this afternoon. Salem only got a 2-3 inches compared to the 6-8 we got in Northern Mahoning...

GO IRISH!

Ursuline just crushed Campbell Memorial 66-34. Ursuline blew it open early 21-4 and never looked back. I am almost certain they won every quarter of the game.

Ursuline vs. Orrville Wednesday in Canton.

That is what you call getting "owned", wow. When Campbell missed those early inside shots, Ursuline rebounded and scored down the other end. Campbell couldn't afford to fall too far behind because they didn't have the ability to overcome a large deficit. I thought Ursuline played very aggressive from the opening tip, did an excellent job rebounding and defending Lebron and Underwood. Lebron didn't score until the 3 or 4 minute mark in the 4th qtr, did Underwood have any points? How this Ursuline team lost to East is beyond me. They've got size, quickness, and a legitimate outside threat in Strollo, it's going to be interesting to see how far they go.
Campbell, you guys went farther than most of us thought. With Letlow and Johnson coming back, thats some nice size underneath, however, Coach D is going to have to find a new backcourt.

Ursuline played an excellent game. The Irish completely shut down Campbell's guards, which are the key to their offense. The difference in this Campbell team was that it did not have the high scoring players that could bring them back from being down by double-digits. Ursuline turned it up from the get go and never looked back. Nevertheless this Campbell team got deep into the tournament and were just one step away from another trip to the regionals. Thanks to our seniors for another good season.
This was one of Coach Danilov's best efforts as head coach at Campbell. The team faced alot of adversity throughout the season. And he got the kids to believe in themselves. Ursuline now faces a tough team in Orrville. Good Luck to the Irish.
