Nowhere in the article did it say Wisconsin would not go to TCU. This was about 1 game the 2011 opener.

"I was contacted probably a week, maybe a week and a half after the bowl game about the opportunity to play TCU in our opener," Bielema said on the show. "It was something that was going to be broadcast and made a big deal. It took me all of about point-five seconds to say, 'Yes.' "

Well of course you don't give them respect. If they did schedule one game at Wisconsin would they get your respect? Do they have to win at Wisconsin to get respect?

Didn't they just beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl? It would appear that Wisconsin is dodging a trip to TCU, not the other way around.

These two comments are extremely contradictory of each other. First you say TCU is not looking to be a sacrificial lamb so they do not want to schedule @ OSU. Then you say TCU is not dodging a trip to Wisconsin where they would more than likely be a sacrificial lamb (hence why they turned it down.

Huh? I didn't say anything about TCU scheduling OSU in that post. I was comparing the difference between the OSU/Colorado game and a potential TCU/Wisconsin game(s).


Colorado playing in Columbus for a pay check without return date = Sacrificial lamb.

TCU wanting a return trip with Wisconsin != Sacrificial lamb.

I don't give them respect because you don't earn it with one or two tough games on the schedule every year. Then given the chance to upgrade, even a little, by adding a trip to Wiscy....they fold like a Big Lots lawn chair...doesn't matter the reason why they turn it down.

Any place, any time? They had an opportunity to prove it and didn't. Tough to gain respect when you make that statement and don't back it up. I give Pat Hill at Fresno State credit, when he said he backed it up.

Lets see how TCU does in the next couple of years. Lets see if their recruiting will keep up. I find it hard for a player from Texas to committ and play all of his games miles away with little opportunity for his family to watch. I could be wrong but I don't see TCU maintaining their "big boy" status.

The Buckeyes won't play at Boise or TCU for the same reason they don't play at MAC schools, MONEY. 7 or 8 home games a season is what OSU needs to support it's enormous sports programs. If Boise or TCU would give OSU a huge guarantee which they can't because they do not generate that kind of revenue (probably several million dollars) then I think they would probably agree to play away from the 'Shoe. So the chance of a home and home with these types of teams is not at this time a possibility because of economics.

The sentence I bolded as me confused. I'm not quite sure what you're saying. I mean I guess it depends on where the player from Texas is from, but you do realize TCU is located in Fort Worth, which isn't far from Dallas, correct?

Well, I suppose that makes a little bit of sense then. But still, if parents want to come watch, they still have all the home games, and i'm sure TCU will still be televised just as much, if not more when they join the Big East.

This was all being done by a third party. Neither school contacted one another, and it really never went past some random guy calling each school to gauge interest. Plus, when it's someone else planning the game, who knows how the revenue was going to be dished out.

Much ado about nothing. Maybe the schools will contact one another and try to set it on their own terms for the future since the third party did at least put the idea in both of the schools' ears.

I posted the information once before, but the distance from TCU to their MWC conference mates is hardly different than the difference from their BE opponents. The western states in this country are a lot more spread out in distance than they appear on a map. If anything, the move to the BE will aid TCU in recruiting kids from Texas that choose to go elsewhere. This was validated this past recruiting class where several kids opted not to go B12 and SEC and picked TCU. What's more, even other BE schools were able to land a handful of Texas kids for the first time (namely Pitt and WVU). Therefore, you theory is flawed in that regard.

In regards to this game against Wisconsin, what I am reading on the TCU boards is one of the reasons the game was not accepted by TCU was because they would have to cancel their game against Baylor (Baylor being a long time rival going back to their SWC days). I don't necessarily buy it, we all know the truth is TCU will be rebuilding next year; but the fact remains I think TCU will rebuild rather quickly and will be relevant for a long time to come.

Haha this made me laugh. I think because UC has really owned Rutgers as of late we have a different view point of their program than other people. (5-0 in the last five years including spoiling their undefeated season)

I don't blame them for wanting a home and home. Wisconsin would have laughed and hung up on TCU (or any other school) that called and said "hey, would you like to come into a hostile environment for a tough matchup... the only catch is, we're not going to return the favor"

So when exactly did Wisconsin become a "big boy" haha? What have they won? They've been nothing more than an above average Big 10 school. TCU actually has a much more impressive recent history if you ask me.

Just being in the Big 10 doesn't make you a 'big boy' because if that were the case, Indiana would be a 'big boy' and that certainly isn't true.

I just want to make a few points:

If TCU ever played OSU, OSU would blow them out by 4 TD's +

Wisconsin(or any big time program) is not going to play in a dinky 40k stadium. If TCU wants to be a big boy, they can build a bigger football stadium.

LOL at anytime anywhere, TCU knows it got a lucky gust of wind and beat a good team. Let's see them do it again(here's a hint: they won't)

Didn't Wisky play @ Fresno State a few times? Their stadium has to be smaller....

Official capacity of Fresno 41, 031*
UNLV 36,800*
TCU 44,008

Wisconsin has played at UNLV and Fresno in the last 5 years. I don't think stadium capacity is the reason for not going to Ft. Worth, especially since Jerry's World is about 20mins away.

Also for grins
Iowa has played at Miami Univ several times in the past 10 years. Their capacity is 24,386.
Minnesota came down and played BGSU a few years ago. The Doyt only holds arouns 23,000.

So, Seating Capacity was definitely not an issue, if there even was an issue for Wisconsin or another Big Ten School going to a smaller stadium. The only reason OSU/Michigan doesn't do it is 1. A lot of their smaller OCC games are still in state and would cause massive floods of people. 2. Even if they went across country, the fan/alumni base are so large that it'd turn into a home game for them.

The other big time schools (Wisconsin and Iowa for example) don't have that same problem.
