Sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes just to shut the dinging off.

Its a habit now, but before it was a law there were plenty of times I didn't use it. I don't want the fine. They can just nail you for it these days. What's stupid about that is while the cop is writing a ticket for no seat belt, any number of motorcyclists can ride by without a helmet on.

Without trying to turn the topic too much, yes, I do. If I want to utterly destroy my life, it should be nobody else's right to choose whether or not I do.

The best case I can see made for them being illegal is maybe an increased danger to OTHERS, but even with that, there's no grounds for alcohol to be legal then.

Well let me preface my response by saying that the day that I rolled my car (not my fault, was ran off the road and other driver got the ticket and his insurance paid for my "new" used car lol) I would have been killed if I HAD been wearing my seatbelt. When my car flipped over onto the roof, the only thing that saved me from being crushed and my neck broken was the fact that I was forward from where my seat normally sits...i.e. I was thrown forward upon impact up against my steering wheel, and thus my head was actually above my steering wheel. 12 inches further back from my head, the roof was dented in all the way down below the the headrest from my roof landing on a huge rock. Had I been strapped in with a seatbelt, and not been able to be thrown forward, my head would have been a rock decoration on the side of that back country road.

Having said that, yes, I wear mine everywhere since then. As I am smart enough to realize that I got extremely lucky by walking away from an accident going 45mph without a scratch, not wearing my seatbelt, I've made it a habit to wear it since then. In 99% of accidents, a seatbelt will be your savior. But I do count my blessings every day that I didn't have it on that day, and even more so that my girlfriend at the time decided not to ride home with me and drive her own car to my house, because the passengers side was completely destroyed all the way down to the middle of the seat. She would have been killed instantly.

That still isn't a rational reason to not wear a seatbelt.

Yes, not wearing it may have made it so that you survived but that doesn't mean that it is likely to do so again. Like I said, if you look at it rationally there are no reasons to not wear your seatbelt unless you like getting injured or killed.

Right lol. Which is the reason for my second paragraph in my first post, I agree with you! I was lucky the first time, but just thought I would share my story as to how not having mine on that day is the reason I'm able to sit here and post anything right now. As I said above, ever since then (July of 2007) I wear it everywhere.

I must be having an off day because I didn't even notice there was a second paragraph. Time for bed I guess.
