Those are not HOF rank type #'s.

Once in a Generation speed? Daryl Green was faster and Devin Hester is faster to name a FEW.

That 49er team was already very good with Steve Young and Jerry Rice to name a few and that Cowboy team was winning their 3rd Super Bowl in 4 years when Deion was there.
The next 4 years with the Cowbys Deion won 1 Playoff game total!

Just because you are an "insane" athlete doesn't make you a HOFer.

I do think Carter is being held back because of his heavy drinking and drug use from early in his career. He admitted to heavy drinking, marijuana and ecstasy using back then.

Considering how rarely teams threw to his side of the field or punted the ball to him, I'd say those are pretty respectable numbers.

He has 19 combined defensive and kick/punt return TD's, which is an NFL record. You conveniently left that one off your list though...

Teams knew not to throw Deion's way, hence why his INT numbers are "low". He took away half of the field for the offense. 8 time pro bowler, 6 time all-pro, two super bowl rings, defensive player of the year award, NFL's all-time leader with 19 defensive and return touchdowns. One of only two players to score a touchdown 6 different ways.

Yea I'd say that's a resume for a hall of famer...

Next year the top 3 choices IMO should be Carter, Bettis and Reed/Brown. Curtis Martin and Cortez Kennedy arent far behind them.

I call bs on that. Teams avoid kicking to Devin Hester too, yet his numbers are better than Deion's and he only has been playing for 5 years. Hester has 15 non-offensive TD's already.

Teams threw at Deion, maybe not as much as the other side of the field that happens with EVERY teams best corner, but they sure as heck ran the ball at his side of the filed all the time, he couldn't tackle to save his life.

Sanders had 212 punt return attempts in his 13 year career. Hester has already had 178 in 5 years. Extrapolate that out to 13 years (462 attempts) and then say that teams avoid kicking to Hester like they did Sanders. Hester is an incredible return man no question but I don't think Sanders is getting in on just his punt returns. He was a lock down corner for a long time. Punt returns were a bonus.

And Sanders had 155 kick returns for his career, Hester is at 113.

I cannot understand how Jerry Kramer, Ray Guy, or Jim Plunkett are not in. Plunkett is the only multi SB winning QB not in. Guy and Kramer's careers speak for themselves. And I do agree, don't take a spot away from the players for journalists/commissioners/officials/etc, give them a special designation on their own.

Sanders only basically only ran kickoffs back for his first 4 years in the league. He ran back kicks about 8 total his last 9 years, so about 147 of Sanders returns were in 4 years. Punt returns he didn't run hardly any for a 4 year period, so your argument is about Hester is wrong.

Ok, take out four years. Hester is on pace for 320 for a 9 year career. Still gets it kicked to him more often than Sanders did. You are also only concentrating on Sanders as a punt returner. He got in because he was the best corner of his generation.

He wasn't THE best corner in his generation. Aeneas Williams was better and he could tackle, he just played on bad teams and wasn't surrounded by other HOF players like Sanders.

I watched Darrell Green, Rod Wooodson, Carl Freaking lewis and Leroy Burrell (USA Olympic sprinter) race in the very early 90's/late 80's in a 100m race. Carl Lewis beat Green and Burrell by 1 step and Woodson was 1 step behind Green and Burrell.

I dare not argue any football player ever was faster than Darrell Green.......but If I were to attempt it it would be Deion Sanders.....I believe he was faster than Devin Hester.

LMAO at Sanders being "overrated." So overrated no one passed to whoever he was covering, he was a DPOY, and an all-pro selection 6 times. Not to mention he did all this while also playing in the MLB.

I would love to say game by game stats of WR's who went up against primetime.
