Picked up a 12 pack of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale cans, bomber of Sublimely Self-Righteous, and Southern Tier Unearthly IPA. Three cans down now, think I'm going to open one of the others.

Grabbed some more White Rajah today, the last sixer they had on the shelf...and having my second one. Love this beer.
Has anyone checked out the Randall Jr from DFH. It's a miniature model of the Randall the Enamel Eliminator for one drink/glass only. I recommend any one that has twitter to check out #randalljr. People/Bars are coming up with some great stuff.

Picked up Oak Aged Arrogant Bastard this weekend. Its great for sure, but not worth the extra you would pay over regular arrogant bastard IMO. I didn't notice a significant difference between the two. Still great, just not worth the $20+ for a 6er.

Got a 4 pack of Sierra Nevada Torpedo tallboys and six pack of Smuttynose Shoals Pale Ale for the draft. Having a Torpedo now; wish more craft beers came in cans.

So I haven't posted on OC for like a month or two, but this is the only thread that I missed in that time. So I'm back for this thread only!
Just cracked my bottle of Great Divide's 18th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA. Good god is it delicious. Thought it might be too sweet as a lot of "special edition" IPAs are, but there's a very good hop/sweet balance and the oak chips add just the right amount of flavor to balance everything out. At $9.99 a bomber its expensive, but still cheaper than some. But worth trying at least once. Jungle Jim's has it, but I bought this at the Hyde Park Kroger.

I bought this last week, but haven't tried it yet. I wish I could try it now however it is at home and I'm in the hills of Kentucky. It will be the first one I will try once I get home.

I think I read a few pages back that you guys think Arrogant Bastard is great beer. Tried it last night and it was terrible.

I'm only messing with you. But I really feel like any sort of "bad" aftertaste for beer is an acquired taste. No I like craft beers a lot. That's what I drink in San Diego when I go out drinking. I definitely like different stuff and don't drink the cheap crap anymore. It could be my taste buds though since I haven't drank in 3 months. Also got a 6 pack of abita purple haze. I don't know if that's considered anything special.

My mentality when it comes to beer: drink as many DIFFERENT beers as possible, whether you've heard good things or not. I don't feel like you can make a bad decision when it comes to beer, as long as you're trying something new. The more variety you try, the more you'll really find the sweet spot of what sort of flavors your taste buds are really looking for.Ytowngirlinfla;1154653 wrote:No I like craft beers a lot. Yeah that's what I try to do. I did that on deployment. FWIW Strongbow is not beer, it is hard cider. But there are a lot of beers you can try that have a lot of similar characteristics as hard cider. Some lambic beers are sort of like cider/champagne depending on what is used to make them. Also some sweeter IPAs/DIPAs have characteristics similar to hard cider (sweetness, slight bit of tart, bitter). Whenever you're looking for beer if you ask someone that works there or whatever for a sweeter IPA or a lambic, I'm sure there are some good ones they can recommend. Yeah I knew it wasn't beer but from everything I tried that I never tried before it was the best. I will say it's an aggressive beer and not for everyone. That being said I love the stuff and just about every beer from Stone, that I could think of.

I love ciders every now and then. I find Strongbow has a little more 'Beerish' flavor than most of the other ciders out there which is different.

Its really not, but for the most part, American beer is superior to any foreign beer nowadays. If you said that 15 years ago, people would call you crazy but they would be right. Nowadays though, with the amount of breweries opening in the US, and the favorable climate for growing hops, the US is far and away the leader in quality beer production. Australia/NZ and Europe are just starting to catch up (Asia has never really had good beer), but really its an awesome time to be a fan of really good beer in the United States of America.

I just said those countries because those are the ones I visited. I did have a good beer in Japan but I can't remember what it was called. European beer is good. But you are right American beer is really good right now because of all the local breweries.
